Portable Caterpillar trio
Caterpillar offers the Cat RP Series of portable generators comprising three standard models, ranging from 2.5kW to 4.4kW and designed for use by both
professional contractors and home owners. The RP2500, RP3100 and RP4400 have multiple
outlets, switchable between 115V and 230V, as well as 12V DC charging points/power outlets. The main functions are altered via an LED-lit control panel, and a multi-function display enables users to toggle between lifetime running hours, session running hours, voltage and run-time. An automatic shutdown engages when oil levels are too low.

Kohler-SDMO says that models in its range of Rental Compact generators, designed to enable users to comply with Stage IIIa emissions regulations, can now be fitted with Deep Sea electronic controllers to offer power synchronisation capabilities. The manufacturer reports that
there is growing interest in synchronised sets from hirers who want to offer smaller machines, while having the ability to link them in order to meet larger power requirements.

Rugged Altrad Belle generators
Altrad Belle’s range of GPX generators, which were previewed at the Executive Hire Show in February, are designed to withstand the harshest hire conditions. The engines and alternators are protected from physical damage by large-diameter frame and side protection plates, whilst a baseplate facilitates use on soft ground. Powered by Honda engines, the range
comprises 2.7kVA, 3.4kVA and 5kVA models, all with low engine oil cut-off and electric overload protection, with a choice of 110V and 230V screw-in sockets. The heavy-duty NSM alternator and sockets are protected by a steel top box, whilst over-sized four-point anti-vibration mounts are fitted for stability. A ‘patent pending’ stackable frame with
single point lifting is incorporated to minimise manual handling risk as well as giving environmental benefits by removing the need for packaging during transportation. Hire companies can also store units one on top of another by using a securing pin, saving workshop and showroom space.
