EXECUTIVE REPORT continued
“At any one time we have between 150-170 people at various stages of their two or three-year training schemes, and we have had some real success stories, with young people in some cases rising to senior management or Director level.
Personnel are trained to meet unusual challenges.
“In another exciting development, September sees the start of our new undergraduate programme, under which we will have business
management students joining us for a year to give them a real-life element to their studies and help them complete a course project.”
A-Plant is clearly proud of its People Strategy, and urges other companies to adopt similar measures to develop their own people and to train the hire professionals of the future.
“It tends to be financial and operational developments that grab the headlines, such as our investment in new equipment or acquisitions. However, it is the people within our company that make the real difference. In undertaking these HR initiatives, we are not ticking a box on a corporate form,” said Sara Saleh. “They represent a genuine investment in our people and their future, and we want to offer them a career, not just a job.”
