MARKET REPORT POWER GENERATION & GREEN ENERGY continued

Popular fleet items include Shindaiwa diesel machines.

Brendon bowser/washers, and SMC and JCB mobile lighting towers, along with re-hired machines from MHM to meet seasonal peaks. We have established strong links with many customers who use our equipment from one site to the next.”

Customised solutions

The equipment portfolio includes items such as water tanks, inverters, plasma cutters, fume extractors and specialist pipe cutters. The company can also develop customised solutions to meet specific customer requirements. For example, when a user wanted to operate four welding machines at the same time in a work area with very restricted access, Adlington’s engineers mounted the units on a single compact trailer, giving a configuration with a small footprint that could be moved and re- positioned efficiently. A similar arrangement was created for a major contractor which required two Mig welding sets to be located quickly in various work areas with minimal setup tome. Adlington also offers a comprehensive range of PPE and workwear that can be embroidered and branded with customers’ logos and corporate colours.

“We have a very loyal workforce and many employees have been with us for ten years or more,” Mark Hunt told EHN. “We encourage people to fulfil their potential, and several personnel who originally joined us as a driver or as a workshop technician trained and worked their way up to become depot managers or Health & Safety specialists within the organisation.”

Not surprisingly, Adlington operates a sizeable delivery vehicle fleet that includes seven 26-tonne trucks with Hiab loader cranes, two 7-tonne lorries, seven Mercedes Sprinter vans and 34 service vehicles for mobile fitters. All vehicles have tracking devices for security and to enable the nearest to a site to be identified quickly. “We have also achieved FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) Silver certification relating to driver and vehicle safety,” said Nigel Turner. “Many contractors are now insisting that their suppliers have this accreditation.”

With power generation equipment and related machinery continuing to be essential requirements across a wide range of applications and markets, demand for Adlington’s services looks set to remain strong.
