MARKET REPORT POWER GENERATION & GREEN ENERGY continued
Firefly’s bright hybrids
Firefly, which was acquired by CCL Energy Group in 2017, has introduced the
Powerplus, a hybrid solution in a single enclosure.
It incorporates a 24kVA to 45kVA hybrid power unit, a 65kVA generator with a bunded fuel tank and Firefly’s Mk 2 TDU smart distribution unit fitted with either AGM (absorbent glass mat) or Lithium-ion batteries, with a further option to incorporate solar panels. The units are being built in Firefly’s new manufacturing facility in Glasgow. An advanced touch screen hybrid controller incorporates set-up
guides, quiet time optimisation, kWh control and load shedding, and can guide the installation engineer through optimising an installation for fuel and cost savings.

BGG (UK)’s Bruno generator range for hire applications extends from 10kVA to 3,000kVA. The company reports that improvements in noise reduction and the introduction of its Fusteq range, with VSi cooling technology, enables it to offer models with a noise level of as low as 53dBA at 1m and fuel savings of up to 15%. Engine, alternator and control options include synchronisation
to the grid and multi-set load share capabilities. Super-silent canopies help reduce the cost of transportation as the machines can be carried side by side on a standard flatbed trailer. An RFM (remote fleet monitoring) allows users to control the equipment via a laptop or smartphone.

Barrus powers up
The Loncin generator range from E.P. Barrus includes open frame sets from 2kW to 6kW and inverter generators from 1.6kW to 3kW. The latter line-up has been expanded with two 110V options, the LC2000i-S and the open-frame LC3500iO, pictured. The latter is designed to deliver 3kW of stable, spike-free power using FM-SPWM ll (Frequency Multiplication Sine Inversion), a technology developed by the manufacturer. Barrus also distributes Yanmar engines and recently supplied a
4TNV98C, Tier 4, Stage V model to Flowplant, a fluid engineering company, to power two bespoke self-contained skid units providing high-pressure water in a cleaning system for use by airline repair centres. Using a specially designed cleaning probe, the water jet removes microscopic particles but leaves surfaces intact.
