MARKET REPORT POWER GENERATION & GREEN ENERGY continued

provide for our own personnel,” said Joe. “Basically, we want to provide a service that enables people to come to use for all the knowledge they need to work competently at an event.”

“Astonishingly low noise level”

The company’s hire fleet now comprises generators mainly from the Spanish manufacturer, Inmesol, for which Flying Hire Events has also been appointed a dealer. Also included in the fleet are models from other manufacturers, including Himoinsa. “We really like the build quality of the Inmesol machines,” said Lindsay. “There is no risk of water ingress and the paint finish is excellent. We can receive parts and other items within 48 hours and Inmesol can adapt machines to any specific requirements. We recently took delivery of a specially developed 115kVA model, the 115 RN, which has an astonishingly low noise level of 52dBA at 7m. It has been very well received by even organisers and by camp site operators, since the quiet running means sleepers aren’t disturbed.”

Flying Hire currently has 100 lighting towers in its fleet.

The lighting tower fleet chiefly comprises machines from SMC and Himoinsa, and includes both traditional metal halide and LED lamp heads. Interestingly, Flying Hire Events can deploy lamps of both types on one unit so as to ensure rapid re-starting in an emergency situation, without having to wait for metal halide lights to cool down.

The company also operates an electrical contracting activity for the installation of long-term and permanent power generation facilities, such as emergency backup services in domestic and commercial locations. Flying Hire Events has ISO: 9001 accreditation and is working towards the ISO: 14001 standard for environmental management, as well as ISO: 4500 Health & Safety.

The company assembles its own distribution boxes and other site equipment.

The company prides itself on its friendly and approachable way of doing business, and this is evident in several ways, such as the way machines in the fleet are listed. As well as a conventional fleet number, each model is given a name, which is painted on

the side in a script typeface. “It’s a bit of fun but it also makes it easier for a customer to identify a machine, and so we know quickly what model it is if they phone us with a query,” said Joe, whose customers are obviously on first name terms in more ways than one.
