Plantforce pushes north Construction plant hire supplier Plantforce has announced a new

outpost in Bury, near Manchester, which is opening as part of its northern depot expansion plans. The new location will offer self-drive and operated plant from the company's portfolio, including articulated dump trucks, dozers, compaction equipment and other related machinery. Products and services from its specialist divisions will also be available in the area.

Charles Wilson expansion

Plantforce also plans to continue its ESG agenda by encouraging the staff in the new depot to complete charitable acts and activities, using their annual paid volunteer day to make a difference in the community – a model that has proven successful in its six other depots. Speaking of the move, Plantforce MD Claire Trott said; “Opening

skid steers, mini excavators and site dumpers. The self-financed deal will give Charles Wilson’s equipment rental division, CW Plant Hire, the second largest fleet of skid steers in the UK. “We’re delighted to add MTS Plant Hire to the Charles Wilson

family. With a great fleet of machinery and a fantastic team, this deal really strengthens our position as one of the UK’s leading plant hire companies,” explained Chief Executive David Gallagher. The business now has more than 1000 products available via CW

Plant Hire, CW Instant Hire, CW Instant Power and CW Access Hire divisions, with more than 400 staff and over £200m in equipment assets. The company is actively seeking additional opportunities that will lead to further acquisitions and expansions in the future. Speaking following acquisition of M&J Hire Centres last year,

which took the company’s holding to 30 depots, Mr Gallagher said: “We will be pushing towards £90m in year one and the target will be more than £100m in revenues in year two.”

With continued expansion very

much a focus for the future, Charles Wilson is keen to see further growth in the company’s apprenticeship programme, which this year aims to take on a record number of apprentices and trainees. CW Plant Hire also operates a training centre for forklift, telehandler and aerial work platform operators at its Hayes depot to the West of London. “We will be looking at the possibility of additional training centres around the country as we continue to expand,” added Mr Gallagher.

The only way is up Sometimes a ladder or platform doesn’t quite meet the requirements of the task at hand. Accidents

can occur when a solution is cobbled together. Far better, then, to have a product that is specifically designed for the job. Step forward British manufacturer, LFI… The new service from the Gloucestershire-based company is called ‘LFI Tech’, which was devised to fulfil customers’ specific access product needs. The freshly formed division is further enhanced by a new alliance with Chase Manufacturing Limited, thus leveraging over 100 years of industry expertise and project management experience.
