New MD at ForgeFix Paul Swift has been appointed as Managing Director of ForgeFix, the fixings and fasteners distributor which supplies over 5,000 products to a network of national and independent retailers and merchants throughout the UK & Europe. Paul joins from Tyman PLC, a leading player in window and door hardware manufacture.


Major move at Kubota Kubota UK, has announced a major strategic appointment, with industry stalwart Rob


White joining as its new divisional manager, construction, for the UK and Ireland. Rob started his journey in construction at JCB in 1996, where he was involved in mini- excavators as a product specialist and then went on to hold senior sales and marketing positions. The appointment comes as Kubota UK celebrates 25-years at the forefront of the mini-excavator industry in the UK and Ireland.


Ride on time September 14-18 will see the fifth annual ‘Ziggurat’ bicycle ride for the construction and


built environment sector. Around 90 riders will pedal from Epsom Downs Racecourse to the Champagne region of France over four days. The event is intended to raise money for the Action Medical Research charity, which supports medical research for sick babies and children. Makita makes 50 It is now a full 50 years since Makita UK division opened its first office. The company

extension now enables hire companies to stock cost effective blades that can cut a broader range of materials. The full BASE range now includes the DSA/C, which is ideal for construction and civil


engineering – with 10mm segment height, undercut protection and 30 degree gullets for clearance. The feature- laden blade is designed to cut all bricks, all concrete materials including reinforced, clay, concrete kerbs, lintels beams and flags, and also abrasive materials and asphalt. Finishing up the range


are the DSBM-T, which is ideal for roof tiles, and the DSBM-PT / DSBM-PT15 for all building materials and small metal sections – the latter including a long life 15mm segment height and available in further cost saving twin packs.
