SHOW FEATURE SPECIAL
FEATURE: May & June events
EXPO events are a hugely important way of seeing the very latest that the industry has to offer, as well as re-establishing contacts face-to-face and cementing business deals with a handshake.
So as the summer edges ever closer, it brings with it the first of the UK and Ireland’s biggest national expo events for the waste and recycling industries.
We take a look at three of the biggest industry expos throughout May and June, starting with...
22 - 23 MAY 2019 STONELEIGH PARK
THE first in our trio of expos is also the newest. Showcasing the latest industry developments, opportunities and equipment in a live environment, Lestrecycle Live is planned to take place every two years ‒ running in the ‘off-years’ of the biennial IFAT show in Germany.
This year, the event will boast more than 140 exhibitors and its hosts expect to welcome around 3000 visitors. It boasts three conference theatres, two exhibition halls, three live demonstration arenas, a number of public and private meetings and a plethora of social events.
Conference
On day one, some of the most influential figures in the waste, recycling and resources industry will take part in a headline debate in the SUEZ Keynote Theatre. Chief executives, David Palmer-Jones of SUEZ UK and Michael Topham of Biffa will join the panel along with Viridor’s Managing Director, Phil Piddington and Jacob Hayler, Executive Director of the Environmental Services Association. The session will ‘provide attendees with a powerful insight into the latest thinking and direction of the UK’s waste management industry’. Conference highlights also include a special session updating the audience
on the thinking behind the Resources and Waste Strategy coupled with views on how it should be delivered. Speakers include Claire Shrewsbury, head of government and communities, WRAP; Adrian Hawkes, policy director, Valpak; Jeff Rhodes, head of environment and external affairs, Biffa; and Daniel Roberts, waste team leader and vice chair at LARAC.
Live demonstrations One of the stand-out features of the event is the live demonstration area, which will see an array of equipment moving, shredding and sorting material. Models confirmed for the show include material handlers such as the Fuchs MHL331F, the Volvo EW240E, the Sennebogen 830 and a selection of machines from Liebherr and JCB including wheeled loaders and material handlers. Among the processing machinery, the Eggersmann Teuton Z55 shredder and Terra Select trommel screen will be in action, along with the Lindner Urraco 750DK mobile shredder and Zetastar ZS75F mobile screen.
The Doppstadt Inventhor Type 9 shredder and the VZ950 Titan shredder from German manufacturer Arjes will also be in action.
Trucks in action
The show also features an arena for manufacturers to demonstrate the latest specialist vehicle for the waste and recycling industry. Participants include Dennis Eagle, Faun Zoeller, Boughton Engineering and Romaquip displaying a range of refuse collection vehicles, skip and hook loaders, Kerbside sort vehicles and more.
There is also a chance for visitors to take a ride or test drive a Dennis Eagle or Mercedes vehicle in the Ride & Drive area.
Networking events and Inn on the Green
Letsrecycle.com believe that doing business should be fun, so visitors can take part in a range of networking and social events across the two days. Attend the Women in Waste Breakfast Meeting, get the best price for your material at the Meet the Buyer event or grab a drink at the onsite ‘Inn on the Green’ pub.
