order and Lakeland Club have had a busy summer with the annual stock judging evenings in June, as well as the start of the local show season. Members had a worthwhile trip in July to Ve-Tech Holsteins’ open day and stock judging then homeward bound via David and Sandra Yates’ Meiklefirth Holstein herd. Everyone agreed they had an extremely interesting look at all the enterprises, as well as the cows of course and the day had been a great success.

BORDER AND LAKELAND B

judge Richard Lucas from the Meinspride herd, Blackburn, Lancashire, had two full days judging an extremely high standard of cattle. There was a welcome positive atmosphere at the presentation evening at Roundthorn Country House, Penrith, where the week’s events drew to a close with a fantastic meal. Sponsors for the competition were Barclay’s Bank and QLF and it was nice to welcome four members from the Barclays team and Andrew Boskett from QLF to the presentation evening.

As well as giving

comments on his judging, Richard Lucas also entertained guests with his sense of humour. Club President John Bushby announced the results which are as follows:
