2015 UK DAIRY DAY SHOW REPORT


his year’s UK Dairy Day was a real show case of the best Holstein cows in Britain with judge Nico Bons from Bons Holsteins in the Netherlands informing ringside spectators and breeders that he was extremely impressed by the quality of cows at the show. “In three years I’ve judged 35 shows and this has easily been the best. It wasn’t just the champion and reserve cows that were outstanding, all of the classes from top to bottom were exceptional.”

Claiming the 2015 grand championship title was the senior champion Berryholme


Infloence Linda 3 from Kendal- based father and son Francis and David Wright. This is their third National Holstein Show championship having previously won with Holmland Storm Flo and Berryholme Shottle Flo and it is also the second UK Dairy Day championship for the Lancashire Club. This year’s winner is a fifth calved daughter of Berryholme Infloence, an Integrity son out of Holmland Storm Flo. Freshly calved in March, giving 52kg a day and classified EX95, she gave 13,552kg at 3.95%bf and 2.93%p in her fourth lactation. Like last year’s champion Linda


also lives in the cubicles with the rest of the herd. Previously in the summer she stood reserve champion at the Great Yorkshire Show in July. Nico added: “My grand champion is an amazing cow for a fifth calver with high lifetime production. She has a great, well attached udder, she is so correct it is almost impossible to find a fault. She had the advantage for having a higher attached rear udder, more veination through her fore udder and moved better on her feet and legs.” Taking reserve spot was Richard, Dawn, Dan and
