David Brewster’s Boclair Stanleycup Camilla stood champion at the August Border and Lakeland Club Sale before selling for the top price of 1500gns.


July Border and Lakeland Club champion sells at 1500gns


Trade was sticky throughout, but David Brewster managed to sell his pre-sale champion Boclair Stanleycup Camilla for 1500gns. Backed by four generations of VG and EX dams she sold yielding 38kg to J Bryson, Dykehead Farm.

Lisnamulligan Youngstock Sale


The fifth annual sale of youngstock from the noted Lisnamulligan herd took place at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, in July for Basil and Adam Lawson and featured 30 heifer calves born in 2014.


British Friesian calves sold to a top of 850gns, the first being a daughter of the much admired Lismulligan Mufasa in the form of Lismulligan Dawn 45. She is backed by two Excellent dams and was knocked down to an undisclosed buyer. Volume buyer A T Davies from Carmarthen also paid 850gns for Lismulligan Brandy Lavender 24. She is sired by Blackisle Benloyal and bred from an outstanding

The uncertainty in the milk industry was certainly felt at Carlisle on Wednesday 15th


The final chapter in the history of the Chapleford Pedigree Holstein herd took place at Borderway, Carlisle on 22nd July in front of a packed ringside of buyers. The herd has been under the careful stewardship of the Shand family who have been milking cows at Chapleford Farm, Lossiemouth, since 1917, they reluctantly decided to cease milk production due to the current unsustainable prices.


Top price at 1620gns was a fresh calved Mr Sam daughter in her second lactation and giving 50.2kg. She sold to an undisclosed buyer.

Early August Craven Dairy Auction


Robin Jennings secured his fourth consecutive Craven Dairy Auction championship on Monday 10th August at the Craven Dairy Auction. Startover Seaver Bonnie sold 20 days calved and giving 30kgs for £1720 to Gavin Clarke, Brimham Lodge, her original breeder.
