n and what they hope they and Labour will achieve in government Paul Farmer – university lecturer

Francyne Johnson – former youth

and former bus driver Camborne, Redruth and Hayle

Get our futures back “I don’t think people realise just how affected by austerity Cornwall is,” says Paul Farmer. “Austerity has caused chaos in this constituency – we used to have industry – mining and factories – all closed. The levels of poverty are such that we have one of the poorest communities in Northern Europe, one third of children in this constituency live in poverty – and we’re home to the UK’s largest food bank.

“The Tories should be ashamed what they’ve done to our communities. Their austerity has caused serious damage – and we’ve got to fight back.

“That is why I’m standing for Parliament. We have got to end this terrible situation they’ve caused and get our futures back. If elected I would be campaigning for regional investment to transform this constituency from day one.

“Labour’s green investment programme is just made for us. We’d be building green products to save the planet – that’s a future worth fighting for.”

worker, Sheffield City Councillor Penistone and Stockbridge

People have been abandoned Unite member Francyne, 32, says she’s standing as a Labour candidate because the country needs MPs who will stand up for the interests of ‘everyday’ people.

If elected one of Francyne’s first priorities would be to re-establish cancelled bus routes through villages in the constituency.

“There are elderly people living in those villages who can’t afford taxis and are stuck. I was speaking to a 100-year-old man who worked on building submarines during the war. It’s appalling that older people like him who have given so much to this country have just been abandoned by the Tories.”

Francyne is passionate about restoring public services – particularly the NHS. “As a councillor, I’ve worked to prevent Tory-led cuts and privatisation to local NHS services. If the Tories get back into power we won’t have an NHS left, especially if Boris Johnson does a trade deal with Donald Trump. We can’t let that happen.”
