CONTENTS Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first issue of Education Today for 2024, and we have a full one for you this month. We open with a preview of the upcoming Bett Show taking place at London’s

ExCel this month, and then take a deep dive into alternative provision with three features on the topic. In our first we hear from Sandro Capozzi, Executive Head at Academy 21, the UK’s leading alternative provision provider, who discusses the growing use of alternative provision online, the reasons for this growth, and the benefits of using an online AP solution. In our second, Fleur Sexton, Deputy Lieutenant West Midlands and CEO of dynamic training provider, PET-Xi, looks at some of the ways in which AP can be successfully implemented, while in our third feature on the topic we hear from Josh Blackburn, COO at online tuition provider, TLC LIVE, who looks at the broader landscape of alternative provision and highlights some areas of concern which need addressing. We also have a bonus feature for you courtesy of Ben Willows, CEO of UKSA, the maritime youth charity and world-renowned training centre of excellence, looking at the benefits of school trips and outdoor education. Elsewhere in the magazine we have all our usual contributors offering insight and opinion, and our regular View from the classroom piece, this month featuring Christopher Woodey, Head of Sustainability at Stephen Perse Schools in Cambridge, who explains why and how the schools in the Stephen Perse family have committed to embedding sustainability into their operations and educational provision by 2030. Remember, we love to hear from you, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @ EdTodayMag, as well as by phone or email. We will be at the Bett Show as well this month so make sure to drop by if you’re visiting the Show – we’d love to see you there!
