Choosing VR hardware for the classroom T
K
AZ’s NEW HTML5 Edition offers teachers a simple and effective way of teaching students of all abilities how to type. The program allows the tutor to allocate either a standard or SEN/Dyslexia version of the course to each student.
Both versions are fun and engaging and suited for ages 6 +. The SEN/Dyslexia option, developed with advice and guidance from The Dyslexia Research Trust, teaches typing skills whilst addressing issues related to visual stress. Incorporating a multi-sensory approach, the program opens with a unique ‘Preference Screen’ allowing the student to select preferences – aimed at maximising optimum reading comfort. The program also includes an easy to use back office allowing teachers to upload students and monitor progress, speed and accuracy. The combination licence of both versions makes KAZ’s NEW HTML5 Edition a simple yet dynamic course.

The UK’s #1 school chair – Postura+
he conversation around VR continues and it’s expected that in 2017 we’ll see it take off. While many schools and teachers are already using VR, eventually many more will turn to this innovative way of learning. The only problem is, hardware pitfalls can be hard to avoid. The variety of VR devices is increasing and headset designs are constantly changing…so how can we be sure the devices we buy are reliable? Here are a couple of things to keep in mind. Focus on your key
vision. Are you using more passive VR content like virtual tours, or content that your students can interact with? For the latter, it’s likely you’ll need a headset that comes with a handheld controller, so check your headset can accommodate one. If you choose a headset that relies on a phone (such as Google
Cardboard), you need to check you have
appropriate phones for
every student. As this isn’t always possible, what might be a better option is an ‘all in one’ that doesn't need a phone.
Veative offers samples to test out the hardware before you buy. Visit
