www.casinointernational-online.com EDITOR’S COMMENT Managing Editor: Jon Bruford

Deals have been happening, some just attempted, some completed. Some obvious, some utterly baffl ing, some surprising. Another bid for Entain is always an eyebrow-raiser, but not from MGM this time, from DraftKings. The offer was huge - $22bn in cash and shares – yet complicated by the joint venture Entain enjoys with MGM in BetMGM. It’s also been reported elsewhere that MGM may be trying to assert control of the JV by gaining more seats on the board, and possibly even taking the venture public. Whatever happens, this story defi nitely has legs. Meanwhile, MGM has agreed a meaty deal to take over operations at The Cosmopolitan on the

Las Vegas Strip. It’s buying into a 30-year lease agreement (at ten-year renewal increments) with rent of $200m annually. The cost for this is $1.625bn in cash. Meanwhile the building is being sold to a partnership that includes a REIT owned by Blackstone, the company selling the building… The real estate assets are coming at a cost of $4bn. And fi nally, elsewhere in a genuinely surprising move – to me at least – Scientifi c Games is selling OpenBet in a $1.2bn cash-plus-shares deal to Endeavour Group. Obviously this will go a long way to easing some of the company’s debts, but selling your sports betting arm while the market continues to open in the US seems a strange strategy to me. But then what do I know? I don’t even have hair. Stay safe,
