years. Much of it is of course positive, and part of that is the conversation currently being held about gender pay parity. Surely it’s a no-brainer? The pay is for

the job being done, not for the individual that does it’s genitals. If the right person is doing the job, surely they get the same as any other person doing that job? Of course they do. When it’s laid out in black and white, everyone basically agrees. So how does disparity happen? Is it simply that men are more forthcoming in asking for a raise, while women might wait for their efforts to be recognised? I honestly don’t know, but it’s the only explanation I can think of. It’s not true, but it’s all I have! Answers on a postcard* please. As ever, we have a fresh start with the generation
we are now raising. Bring your daughter up to recognise her strengths, and to expect parity and equality – and raise your son to accept the exact same. One day when they are employers, they will remember what you showed them. Lead by example, and the world changes surprisingly quickly. Enjoy the issue.
