ANNUAL KITCHEN EDITION

AEON by Pitacs Limited: redefining the “designer radiator” T

he true meaning of the expression “designer radiator” has been diluted

over the last 15 years. Merchants have started calling almost every piece, other than a standard panel radiator or ladder towel rail, a designer radiator. But how can we truly categorise what designer radiators are? There is no bold line between radiator and

designer radiator, so we’ve drawn our own. At Pitacs Limited, we only term our AEON range as ‘designer’, and we work hard to make sure they

all deserve this title. We’ve pioneered the art of sculptural heating design since 2003, first in the UK and then worldwide. We’ve created forms and shapes that have never been used before, in stainless steel and aluminium, and we’ve maintained the highest standards of material and manufacturing. Satisfied AEON customers always appreciate

both the beauty of the product they choose, and the way it is installed. You really can’t part the two. If you want to truly impress the consumer, you can’t rely on brilliant design alone - you also

need matching valves, accessories, and above all, good installation practices. At Pitacs Limited, we have full inhouse support for installers, and for consumers who are installing an AEON solution. Of course, this works both ways - every decent installer takes pride in their craft, and for that reason, we trust installers will relish working with the AEON range.

Could you be Bisque’s next radical designer? B

isque has a reputation for pushing the boundaries of design. Established

in 1979, the brand pioneered the idea that the humble radiator could be a stylish, colourful, and desirable product in its own right. Its radiators were still practical, but the designs were daring and unexpected. They captured imaginations and changed perceptions, and as a result, Bisque became the UK’s first ever designer heating brand. Forty years on and Bisque remains at the forefront of the radiator revolution. Its iconic

designs and stunning finishes have won awards and been exhibited at the Design Museum, as well as in famous buildings and homes around the UK. To mark its 40th year, Bisque is inviting aspiring

designers from across the world to submit ideas for its next radiator design. It’s not the first time the brand has done this.

A similar competition in 2007 resulted in the creation of its coat hanger-inspired Archibald towel rail that’s still available today. This year, however, the brief is to create something even more dramatic. Ideas should be

an appropriate acknowledgement of Bisque’s revolutionary beginnings, and in keeping with its daring, audacious design approach. The winning designer will receive £1,000 in

prize money, and could have the satisfaction of seeing their idea put into production. Find out more at www.bisque.co.uk/radical40
