Countertop bowl trend T
here’s an increasingly common trend for consumers to opt for stylish
countertop basins to sit on vanity units and wall-hung shelves, rather than the easy option of going for integrated vanity basins. Unlike any other type of sink, the countertop
option provides a daring, contemporary statement, while evoking memories of an era gone-by. Available in different styles and sizes, the countertop bowl offers plenty of versatility, and is becoming a favourite among self-renovators, designers and fitters alike. Their placement on a surface provides a unique

silhouette, making them perfectly complemented to retro-inspired bathrooms or spaces which incorporate traditional, classic styles, such as exposed pipe-work and Burlington products. However, a modern home which embraces
simplicity, clean lines and elegance can also be freshened up with the stand-out lines of a slim
countertop sink. There are now plenty of designs which have unusual, smooth shapes to take the centre stage of a bathroom. We also find that customers are increasingly-
willing to go for something fun in their bathroom – and that can be found in a black countertop bowl. Some customers choose to match the black surface of the sink, with matt black taps, while others prefer to contrast the modern look, with chrome waterfall taps. When it comes to the tap, there is plenty of
adaptability with a countertop bowl. Some rectangular or square basin designs include an inset from which customers can choose to fit a tap, whereas others require the tap to stand upon the same surface that the bowl stands on. They also have practical benefits. They tend to
have high sides, which creates a deep bowl and prevents water from splashing everywhere. Being placed upon a surface also sets them at a more convenient height than many other kinds of basin.
Cubico introduces countertop bowl-friendly furniture A
t Cubico, we are confident in the rising trend of countertop bowls and
have begun to introduce more ranges of furniture which suit this type of sink. In 2018, we launched the ‘Stark’ unit – a contemporary-styled piece which has modern lines and a worktop, rather than an integrated basin. Building upon the popularity of this product, we
have now introduced two new furniture ranges, encompassing Camden and Granada. The Camden utilises a thin porcelain tile
worktop, giving a really sleek look and a durable,
easy maintenance material, which is resistant to moisture and stains. Plus, it is floor-standing, which is the more
popular choice for the UK market – most top designer brands tend to focus on the European wall-mounted style. The Granada furniture is much like the design
of the Stark but comes in a petrol blue colour and a choice of two worktop colours. These worktops are made from a Sintered stone material, which is an extremely durable man- made stone. Designed for surface applications, it is a perfect swap for traditional stone designs such
as quartz and granite but with far superior performance. Granada incorporates another unique feature.
The vanity unit is supplied with four legs in the box and the customer has a choice to use 4 legs, 2 legs like the Stark – or no legs at all and install it has a wall hang unit.
