Kudos opens new Cheshire warehouse & showroom facility

Cumbrian shower products manufacturer, KUDOS, has opened a new 60,000 sq ft warehouse in Sandbach, Cheshire, to house its finished goods stock in a more central location for efficient UK delivery to its retail customers. The move was

The warehouse also houses a 2,500 sq ft showroom and training facility where all the businesses latest product collections are on display including their shower doors, walk in enclosures, shower trays and wetroom systems. It’s a facility that they are encouraging their retailers to use to show end consumer customers certain products or to book product training for new staff. Ideal Bathrooms – Biggest challenges facing bathroom industry

Bathroom businesses have faced a number of challenges over the past 18 months, not least a global pandemic. However,

according to The Ideal Bathrooms Industry Report 2020, undertaken in partnership with BKU, online competition is the main concern for most firms, cited by 71 per cent as the main challenge they were facing. Worryingly, this was a rise 20 per cent from the previous report in

2018, showing that the issue is becoming more prevalent. The second biggest challenge was staying competitive in a crowded

marketplace, highlighted by 47 per cent of respondents, while reduction in footfall, caused largely by the pandemic and the resulting restrictions, was flagged by 36 per cent. However, with the pandemic ushering in a new era of online activity for

those who had previously been reluctant to embrace digital, along with a loosening of restrictions, it will be interesting to see if the above holds true in the future.

UWLA welcomes construction industry commitment to Net Zero

details the commitments made by the industry to reduce its carbon emissions. The initiative, which is being led by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) includes a Performance Framework, which sets out how the sector will commit to, and measure its progress towards Net Zero. UWLA MD Yvonne Orgill says, “We welcome this report and the

T

commitments that have been made. It represents a step change in opinion about the need to act now, with more than 2,500 comments received to shape the framework. “Whilst many of the metrics focus on the activities and output from

firms within the sector, others relate to the delivery of energy savings in the building of new homes and the CLC Retrofit Strategy of existing properties. One of the key commitments is that from 2025, new homes and buildings will minimise energy demand and reduce emissions in operation by 75% (dwellings) and at least 27% (commercial buildings) compared to current standards. “The link between water, energy and carbon is one that we have

highlighted in our recent campaigns to promote the Unified Water Label. Our new website includes an energy and a carbon calculator that can calculate how much energy is used when water is heated, and how much relative carbon is used when changing to a product that uses less water. “Contractors of new build properties and retrofit projects can select

from a wide range of water using products that carry the Unified Water Label, which will help them reach the energy saving targets set out in the Performance Framework. Our database of products is already used by over 10,000 architects and specifiers on a regular basis, for new projects across the globe. “We are looking forward to continuing the dialogue with the

construction industry and the retrofitting sector to encourage them to support the use of Unified Water Label products. “Those interested in finding out how they can become involved by

supporting the UWLA can find out more by visiting the website.” uwww.uwla.eu
