INDUSTRY UPDATE THE KBSA COLUMN

Ideal Bathrooms – The role of digital and tech in business acquisition

The role of digital has never been so important, especially after a year in which bathroom showrooms and merchants were forced to close their doors. The Ideal Bathrooms Industry Report 2020, undertaken in partnership with

BKU, found that, while word of mouth is still the most popular way of acquiring new business, with 95 per cent of respondents saying it was their primary method, digital media is fast catching up. The report found that 51 per cent of respondents gained new business

Bucks University students benefit from industry and Kbsa support

T

he Kbsa in conjunction with global brand Fisher & Paykel have provided funding to support more students

undertaking the Foundation Degree “Kitchen Design” at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), this September. The support from Fisher & Paykel will cover two students already

signed up via a Kbsa bursary, allowing the Kbsa to offer support to others that wish to study at BNU. A third student Ella Kirsopp from Ream Interiors will be joining the

foundation degree this year, with financial support from CITB and the Kbsa. Mark Young Retail Sales Director at Fisher & Paykel said, “We are

delighted to be supporting students on this very worthwhile kitchen design course. It is a technically focused and knowledge based programme that provides students with essential skills to build a career as a designer. “We hope to continue working with the Kbsa and BNU to support

more students in the future.” Peter Cross MD at Ream added, “The Foundation Degree will

provide Ella with a fantastic opportunity to develop her skills and knowledge. As a blended course she will continue to work with us alongside her studies, having the opportunity to apply the tools and techniques she is learning in the showroom.” Students interested in a bursary for the BNU Foundation Degree or

the BA (Hons) top up course, which starts next year can contact the Kbsa for further information.

through their website, compared a rise of 33 per cent from the previous report two years earlier. Social media was also on the rise, with 41 per cent saying they had acquired

new business through their social platforms, a rise of 16 per cent from the 2018 report. With footfall falling over the last year thanks to restrictions, it’s encouraging to see so many companies gaining new business through digital innovations.

New EasyMatch App from Neoperl

We are becoming increasingly aware that retrofitting the right aerator to taps can save huge amounts of water and energy but identifying the right aerator for the job needs technical support. Not anymore, Neoperl has launched a new app called EasyMatch that quickly identifies the right aerator for the job. The app supports plumbers, specialist

wholesalers and DIYer’s in finding a suitable replacement part free of charge and without registration. All that is required is to open the app, remove the incumbent aerator and housing and answer a few questions about the removed aerator (like its diameter and patterning and air slots) and the app will automatically determine a suitable range of models as a replacement. In special cases, the query may be forwarded to Neoperl experts to provide speedy feedback via text message. As water pressure fluctuates across the country, it’s impossible to

produce a tap that will work the same in every situation. Tap manufacturers therefore produce taps with an optimal performance to work across all pressure situations. It’s only when in situ that one can identify whether the flow from the tap is too fast resulting in splashed clothes and water wastage. Changing the incumbent stream device or aerator is simple and takes just a few minutes. The new EasyMatch app is available for IOS from the apple store and for android from the Google play store free of charge. It’s being constantly developed so any feedback would be appreciated to improve the app’s use at DE.Marketing@Neoperl.com. More details at https://www.neoperl.com/global/en/blog/easymatch-app/
