of a plywood carcase: ‘BAUFORMAT have been producing plywood


carcases for a number of years now but primarily for high humidity countries. For example, most kitchens we sell to the likes of India and Taiwan are supplied with plywood carcases.’


‘The obvious advantage is the stability plywood


provides in humid or wet conditions. For instance, a plywood carcase might be specified as an extra safeguard in a high-risk area where water penetration is a possibility - the sink base unit or the carcase on either side of a dishwasher or washing machine. This upgrade would provide peace of mind to any customer who has


previously experienced water damage in the kitchen caused by a leaking tap or laundry appliance.’ BAUFORMAT’s plywood carcase (shown


above next to a standard chipboard carcase) is constructed with layers of Poplar and Birch which are cross-bonded at 90 degree angles to create a sturdy yet comparatively lightweight material. A plywood kitchen looks like any other BAUFORMAT kitchen from the outside. Plywood carcases are now available in the UK.
