WORKSURFACES & SPLASHBACKS Anna Gibson
EGGER (UK) Ltd
BKU’s Matt Broughton spoke with Anna Gibson, Product Manager, EGGER (UK) Ltd.
GGER experienced a successful year marked by growth and innovation. We remain focused on sustainable initiatives, product development, and our customers. Sales figures stayed strong, reflecting the positive reception of our new Decorative Collection 24+. Despite challenges posed by the global landscape, we navigated through the year with resilience and adaptability, positioning ourselves for continued success. A highlight of 2024 was the launch of the EGGER Decorative Collection 24+. We experienced a surge in orders from our customers and witnessed the adoption of new decors across kitchen and bathroom designs. This includes our worktop collection that has been meticulously crafted to meet the diverse needs of designers, architects, and fabricators, offering a versatile range of high-quality worktops that cater to an array of design preferences. Developed as part of the international Decorative Collection 24+, the worktop range comprises 39 carefully chosen decors, in two thicknesses and two profiles. Reproductions in 25 mm and 38 mm include oak, marble, stone, and granite, offer a low maintenance, cost-effective alternative to solid surfaces. The range focuses on authentic decors and textures that offer affordable alternatives to real materials, but with all the added benefits of laminate. As interior design continues to evolve, the demand for surfaces that effortlessly combine style with resilience remains a key topic. Our dedicated Product and Decor Management team is constantly exploring the latest worktop trends, looking for innovative ways to incorporate these
E
trends into our collection. Worktop trends for 2025 are displaying a blend of natural and sustainable materials like stone and reclaimed wood. We expect to see a surge in bold colours and intricate patterns to infuse kitchens with character and visual flair. Textured finishes such as matt, leathered, or honed surfaces will add a tactile and contemporary touch.
Integrated sinks and accessories will streamline kitchen workspaces, while thin profiles, like our 25 mm worktop range, offer a sleek and modern look. The enduring appeal of marble and stone effects in worktop surfaces will continue, exuding luxury and timelessness. Mixing materials like wood, metal, and stone will be a popular choice, allowing for unique and personalised worktop designs that cater to individual style preferences. We aim to add value to kitchen and bathroom designs with our advanced alternative product range. The power of advanced reproduction technology, combined with our innovative material solutions, can offer budget control, time saving, and reduced environmental impact. Whether you are looking to make simple swaps from solid or composite worktops, stone and metal facades or painted wood frontals, our alternative product range to add value to kitchen design in more ways than one.
For example, solid oak worktops are often beyond project limitations in both cost and time, with additional treating adding to schedule pressures and further stretching the budget. By making a simple swap to our Feelwood timber effect worktops, costs are controlled both at source and over time, while the stable and durable surface does not discolour over time or require any upkeep.
Sustainability has always been a core focus of our production, perfectly summarised by our founder, Fritz Egger Senior, who once said, “Wood is far too valuable to just throw it away.” Over the last year, we have done ESG customer training, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, underlining the success of our sustainability initiatives. Chipboard based laminate worktops are a good choice when looking for a sustainable alternative to solid surfaces such as granite and marble. As well as being more budget friendly, the worktop’s chipboard core stores carbon, and state-of-the-art technology means that the look and feel is almost indistinguishable from the original material.
