So what’s the BMA been up to? T
he last twelve months have seen one of the busiest periods ever in the long and well-respected history of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association.
Whether you’re in Brussels, Barcelona or Birmingham when you next meet the BMA’s CEO, Yvonne Orgill, just ask her the simple question “so what’s the BMA been up to” and she will reel off a raft of current projects which confirm that the association is at the heart of the UK’s bathroom industry. A rapidly growing membership, its Code of Practice, statistical analysis and reporting, product compliance, the European Water Label, training and the bathroom academy, technical advancement, the ‘Hot Water Burns Like Fire’ campaign, the environment and the annual industry conference will all feature in her list.
Some projects are both high profile and high priority. One such is the European Water Label which is a product classification scheme showing water and energy usage characteristics of over 10,000 bathroom and kitchen products. The voluntary scheme, created by the BMA, now supports 129 brands in 38 countries. The scheme has grown year on year since its inception and is now negotiating mergers with similar schemes based on the continent.
The Association’s growing membership is testament to the work of its dedicated staff. Over 100 brands have signed up and they all agree that the BMA does collectively what they can’t do individually. As ‘The Voice of the Bathroom Industry’ the BMA lobbies on behalf of its members at the highest levels in the UK government and at the European Commission. Leaving the EU will bring uncertainty for our industry but the BMA aims to support members with the vital information needed to ease the changes which will inevitably come. Indeed the Annual Industry Conference in Sutton Coldfield on 17 October 2017 will have sessions dedicated entirely to ‘Leaving the EU’. So now just ask yourself the simple question “are you missing out on vital information that your competitors are getting”? FILA’s FILANO RUST wins TTA ‘Best Ancillary Product’ Award
FILANO RUST has been awarded ‘Best Ancillary Product’ in The Tile Association Awards 2017. The prestigious industry awards were presented at the annual ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in central London’s Portman Square; FILA beat off competition from two other finalists, Instarmac and Norcros Adhesives, to win the category, and was also short-listed for the ‘Best Environmental Initiative’ award.
The winning product, FILANO RUST is designed to safely remove old and new rust stains from all types of natural stone, agglomerates, porcelain and ceramic and concrete. It has a non-acid formula, which makes it particularly suitable for delicate surfaces, including polished marble and acid-sensitive limestone. A highly viscous ‘gel-like’ formulation optimises performance and avoids wastage. It can be applied onto horizontal as well as vertical surfaces – indoors and outside - where it ‘stays put’ and acts directly on the stain, turning from a clear colour to deep purple, which indicates a reaction with the rust.
