Dundonald and works at Antrim Area Hospital, has been named Aqualla’s ‘Healthcare Hero’ and has won a luxury dream bathroom after she was nominated by her sister Joanna Sloan from Belfast. On hearing the news that Debbie had won
Joanna said: “My sister Debbie has wanted to be a nurse since she was five years old. In these most difficult times, she has never once put herself first, working long shifts, often staying late to hold the hand of patients who are in their last moments of life. Joanna added: “Debbie has also been working
outside of hours to collect donated iPads so patients can connect with their families as well as gathering knitted hearts to make them feel loved. She is marked from the PPE, yet rather than complain she feels thankful. “I am so happy that Aqualla is giving something
back and I know that Debbie will be delighted with her new bathroom as this is something she has been putting off since moving house six years ago.” Debbie, who was selected from a long list of deserving entrants, was delighted to be chosen and
because I’m just doing my job like others in health and social care (HSC) - in reality we are all going above and beyond. A new bathroom is so needed in our house right now so this really has come along at the right time. Thank you Aqualla.” Multiple nominations were received and Steven
Allaway, the firm’s Managing Director, explains why the firm thought it was important to run the campaign. He commented: “Whilst we have all been showing our gratitude to the frontline staff for working tirelessly in the fight against the coronavirus, Aqualla wanted to say their own special thank you. The gift of a new bathroom will help to provide
a spa like experience at home, a place to relax and rejuvenate, especially after a mentally and physically exhausting time at work. We hope Debbie enjoys it.” Debbie has worked at Antrim Area hospital for
eight years and her line manager, Sister Racheal McFarland, believes the prize could not have gone to a more deserving person. “Debbie is a vital member of the team and a
great example of how mentally strong health staff are during these uncertain times. She is truly great to work with, has a positive and caring attitude, great leadership skills, quick problem solving abilities and never ending diligence. “Debbie works so hard balancing work and her
family and she really deserves this. Myself and the entire team couldn’t be more proud.”
