Shires Bathrooms – Reviving a Heritage. Shaping the Future of British Manufacturing

he New Year will mark the exciting launch of Shires Bathrooms in Keighley, West Yorkshire, celebrating the return of an iconic British brand to the Yorkshire region and reaffirming a proud legacy of UK manufacturing excellence. Shires is a name rich in heritage, and its revival represents a significant milestone for the UK bathroom industry. Central to this relaunch is the opening of a brand new, state of the art shower tray manufacturing facility in Keighley, bringing high quality shower tray production back to where it belongs. The factory is equipped with first of its kind technology, reflecting a major investment in British manufacturing, innovation, sustainability and skilled employment within the region.

T

Driving this exciting new chapter is Aiden Huscroft, Production Director at Shires Bathrooms, whose expertise in shower tray manufacturing spans nearly 15 years. With extensive technical knowledge and hands on industry experience, Aiden has built a highly skilled and passionate team, united by one clear focus: delivering premium quality gel coat shower trays to the UK market with outstanding consistency, reliability and performance. Gel coat shower trays provide superior durability, enhanced longevity and significant environmental advantages over traditional ABS cap acrylic alternatives. Shires trays incorporate 30% recycled content, utilising waste fragments from glass production that would otherwise be sent to landfill. This represents a meaningful environmental benefit when supplying thousands of trays each

month. Gel coat already dominates the European market, and Shires anticipates that as homeowners become increasingly environmentally conscious, demand for ABS plastic will continue to decline in favour of more sustainable, long lasting materials. Production is now underway at the Keighley facility and on track to begin supplying shower trays from January, supporting a growing network of leading bathroom suppliers with a reliable, high quality and cost effective UK manufacturing solution. Shires offers enhanced security of supply, consistent product quality and dependable lead times, all underpinned by direct control of British manufacturing.

The launch of the gel coat range marks the beginning of a bold new era for Shires, with a clear commitment to supporting bathroom retailers, merchants and housebuilders across the UK. With strong foundations now firmly in place, Shires has clear growth plans to expand its product portfolio and continue meeting the evolving demands of the market.
