Award-winning new kitchen collection from Perrin & Rowe T

he Festival of Britain in 1951 reignited Britain’s enthusiasm for design. After years of post-war austerity, the festival presented an optimistic vision of the future. A new generation of designers created simple, elegant designs that established a new aesthetic for furniture and interiors. Today, mid-century British design is as desirable as ever, influencing designers and architects around the world. Perrin & Rowe’s new Southbank collection is a tribute to the 1951 Festival designers, adopting their ideals to create a distinctive new range of kitchen brassware. Each piece is perfectly proportioned, with meticulous detail that references iconic pieces from the period. It has already won a Gold Certificate at the Grands Prix du Design in Montreal, and was a global winner at the recent International Design Awards, run by the Society of British & International Interior Designers. The comprehensive range includes bridge mixers and monobloc taps, with an optional pull-down rinse. Perrin & Rowe developed the first three-way tap more than thirty years ago, and the Southbank range includes instant-hot and filtration taps from launch. There is also a characterful pot-filler and inset soap dispenser. Eight finishes are offered: Chrome, Nickel, Pewter,

24-carat Gold, Polished Brass, Aged Brass, Satin Brass and English Bronze. These can be matched to a Perrin & Rowe’s own kitchen cabinet handles. Southbank is made at Perrin & Rowe’s Midlands foundry before being assembled in Rainham, just 15 miles east of London’s Festival Hall, the heart of the famous exhibition. Nearly three-quarters of a century after the Festival, Perrin & Rowe has reinvented mid-century British design for contemporary kitchens. For full details on the range, visit the website.
