Hafele reveals what UK homeowners want from a kitchen

ost British homeowners expect to change their kitchen before 2027 and will opt for sleek style, light colours and functional accessories, according to a new study. Häfele UK found those in Yorkshire most keen to get a new kitchen, expecting to have it fitted within four years.


Data (at hafele.co.uk/kfl) also explored the drivers for change, which included a style overhaul (38%), desire to improve home value (26%) and more storage (24%).


Better accessibility for an ageing family was top on the wish list for those in the East of England.


When it comes to cabinetry colours, 44% chose white, beige and wood among their preferred neutrals.


Desired accessories included concealed bins and recycling stations (39%), with boiling water taps (37%) and larders (36%) items people would love but have no space for.


To give kitchen studios actionable insight to drive sales and marketing activity, Häfele has compiled ‘Kitchens for Living: A Picture of the UK'. Key findings include u-shaped kitchens being the most common layout in the UK (36%),


Cardiff is the galley kitchen capital (18%) and 14% of Northern Ireland homeowners have an island.


“With many kitchen studios feeling effects of the cost of living crisis, we are supporting retailers with insight to boost sales and marketing activity,” said Natalie Davenport, Häfele UK's marketing lead.
