INDUSTRY UPDATE

Installer show great success for UWLA

T

he Unified Water Label Association (UWLA) exhibited at the Installer Show 2023 in June and found that it was hugely successful for sharing the Water Matters message. UWLA MD Yvonne Orgill said, “This was our second time at the show and it did not disappoint. With over 15,000 visitors it provided a perfect platform for the UWLA to promote the Unified Water Label. “The audience of installers from the heating, plumbing, renewables and electrical sectors, was perfect as they have a unique opportunity to communicate the benefits of Water Label products to their customers. The show is a great place to exchange knowledge, explore innovative products, and forge invaluable connections. This year there was a focus on education and to support this, the UWLA will be launching video training for installers next year, to help them educate consumers and make informed choices. “We also received a number of positive enquiries about membership from some major retailers that we are progressing and hope to announce soon.

“The timing was also perfect as recent research has shown that consumer attitudes have changed. The Covid pandemic, the cost of living crisis and higher energy prices have all had an impact on how people view environmental responsibility and climate change. There is a growing interest in products that can help save water and energy, helping keep household bills down and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle. “Changing behaviour is key to success, and installers have a unique opportunity to bring this dialogue to their customers. They are on the front line, able to influence and educate consumers directly on how much water different products use, as well as the consequences of their actions and behaviour in the home once these products are purchased. “Installers can demonstrate how much water different products use by inputting product data into the Water Calculator on the website, with more than 17,000 products currently registered, there is no shortage of products for retailers to promote.

“Many of Europe’s most well-known and well respected brands offer bathroom products that carry the Unified Water Label, providing taps, showers and toilets that use water wisely and offer great choice to the consumer. There is also a marketing pack for installers which includes a range of tools, flyers, posters, social media posts and videos, with tips and advice on how to save water in the home.

“By supporting the Unified Water Label, a smart solution developed by the industry, installers will be supporting manufacturers that have developed these products, which can help consumers use less water in the home. Together we can achieve greater visibility in the marketplace, and embrace a cleaner, greener bathroom revolution.”

The Water Calculator and the marketing pack are available to download for FREE from the UWLA website.
