Driving positive change for the KBB sector: BiKBBI announces the appointment of Diversity Ambassador
W
e have had a busy few months here at British Institute of KBB Installation (BiKBBI), particularly around the topic of education as we launched our redefined education proposition, BiKBBI Futures, and formed the BiKBBI Education Steering Committee which held its first meeting in June, and more recently, we were delighted to share the news of the appointment of the Hon Dr Stuart Lawrence as the institute’s official Diversity Ambassador.
Stuart Lawrence brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and a powerful voice to promote diversity and inclusivity within the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom (KBB) installation industry. He has been a tireless campaigner for social justice and equality following the tragic murder of his older brother, Stephen, in 1993. His family’s relentless pursuit for justice, along with his dedication to challenging institutional discrimination, continues to have a positive impact on British society.
As BiKBBI’s Diversity Ambassador, Stuart will collaborate closely with the BiKBBI Education Steering Committee, BiKBBI’s leadership team, stakeholders, and industry professionals, extending his efforts to foster inclusivity and diversity within the KBB installation industry. He will play an important role in the implementation of strategies that promote equal opportunities across the sector, with his primary focus being to encourage the industry to embrace diversity in all its forms, including ethnicity, gender, age, and socioeconomic background. Stuart will engage in various initiatives, including delivering keynote speeches, participating in industry events, and collaborating with industry leaders to develop and implement inclusive practices. His influential voice will inspire positive change and contribute to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered within the KBB installation industry.
The appointment of Stuart as Diversity Ambassador demonstrates BiKBBI’s commitment to driving positive change in the sector which includes championing inclusivity and equality. By working alongside him, BiKBBI aims to facilitate a culture shift within the sector, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, are afforded equal opportunities to thrive and succeed. His appointment is not only good news for the BiKBBI Education Steering Committee, who will be able to draw on Stuart’s wealth of knowledge and experience but it’s also a positive for the installation sector as a whole and the wider KBB industry, as we tackle diversity challenges and work towards solutions that deliver positive reform and shape a sustainable future workforce for the KBB installation sector.
