Is freshness innovation the key to reducing food waste?
UK households are losing £4.3 billion on average per year on food waste, according to our recent research. Of those respondents nearly three quarters of Brits (70%) said they would find it useful to have technology that keeps food fresh for longer in the fridge, whilst also being energy efficient.1
The results highlight there is a fundamental lack of consumer and industry awareness around innovative ways to keep your food fresh for longer.
As an industry, we must ensure retailers are armed with the knowledge and tools to be able to upsell appliances that contain freshness innovation to help alleviate these pressures. Look to Liebherr’s BioFresh technology – innovation that uses the interplay of the ideal humidity and temperature to lengthen storage life and protect the nutritional contents.
By bringing these issues to the forefront and driving awareness around freshness innovation we will not only help to reduce the large volumes of wasted food that ends up in landfill but reduce the financial implications that food waste generates. 1 Research commissioned by 72point/OnePoll on behalf of Liebherr (November & August 2022) to 2,000 UK adults

The one thing to do that will have an instant impact on your KBB profits
Have you planned your sales for the year ahead, but at the end of the year the profits are rubbish?
Change by having a forecast for the coming months, model your management accounts with a way of updating the plan when projects move or delay.
Manufactures should base it on the work you are going to do in the workshop including WIP.
KBB showrooms should track the income generated from the different stages of your projects.
Seeing these
numbers ahead of time, allows you to make the changes necessary to make the month outstanding,
regardless of what happens.
Now you’ve got a plan that will make you money, break this down into tasks that need to be done to make everything happen.

Share this plan with your employees, letting them know their tasks and dates, then your whole company will be working towards making the month profitable, not just you.
Finishing touches have huge design influence
There’s a lot to be said about giving the smaller items within your product offering as much attention as the big showstoppers. These supposed “finishing touches” can actually be what defines the overall look and feel of a customer’s bathroom, and are often a huge consideration within the original vision. Whether it’s a specific texture or colour, customers want to feel like their personal taste and direction has been captured, and details across items such as brassware, hinges, and fixings are where this really comes to life. By seamlessly integrating matching finishes which work together across a whole collection - an example being having the exact same colour-matched finish on all brushed brass designs - you can help designers create a seamless overall look and tie hero products together.
