Marmox multiboard measures up in 17th Century conversion
Bringing an old building up to modern standards of performance and comfort can be extremely challenging, but refurbishment using Marmox Multiboards provided the ideal starting point for the various room conversions. The rambling three-storey structure is the subject of far-reaching
renovation and alteration work by Crewe based Pioneer Design & Build. This includes the introduction of the high specification bathrooms and shower-rooms, involving extensive use of 12mm Multiboards. Nearly 60 of the 1250 x 600mm boards, including special acoustic grade
Soundboard versions, were purchased along with quantities of the special Marmox fixing washers and Marmox Multibond Sealant as well as the manufacturer’s waterproof jointing tape. The finishes being installed across the Multiboards include large as well as small format tiles and even natural stone pebbles Marmox Multiboards are manufactured from extruded polystyrene or
XPS and offer a range of positive physical characteristics in addition to being fully waterproof. They are both light to handle and easy to cut, while still being able to sustain substantial loadings if required. They further offer good thermal insulation performance, helping to cut condensation risk.
Lakes’ launches new online showroom
Lakes, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of showering spaces, has launched an innovative new online platform to give its trade and end user customers a personalised showroom experience. The online showroom concept, developed by MRA Marketing, is a pioneering selling tool for Lakes’ merchant and retail stockists and their installer and homeowner customers. It allows showering space products to be viewed and favourited so merchant sales and showroom staff can turn them into orders. Accessed through the stockists own website, visitors to Lakes showroom can download joint-branded brochures and ask questions directly to the stockists’ staff via chat and email. Lakes’ Sales & Marketing Director Mike Tattam comments: “We’re always
looking for new ways to support our customers and help them grow their businesses. The online showroom delivers that. We’re excited to help our customers sell.” Lakes Online Showroom launched at

TTA supports TrustMark’s Work Safe, Safe Work campaign to restore consumer confidence in tradespeople
T
TA is backing a new initiative which aims to guide and reassure homeowners who are looking to employ
tradespeople, such as tilers, in and around their homes post- lockdown. The initiative comprises new guidance which is being issued to homeowners. The Work Safe, Safe Work Campaign has been developed by
TrustMark, the only Government-endorsed quality scheme for tradespeople, and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). It is also supported by The Construction Leadership Council. It is hoped that the Work Safe, Safe Work campaign will give the consumer confidence to have work done in their home, which construction industry leaders believe is pivotal in the country’s economic recovery following the coronavirus pandemic. TTA is supporting
the campaign with social media and is encouraging tile fixers working in private homes to communicate the key messages to their customers, as part of rebuilding consumer confidence in the sector. Tilers should be adhering to the relevant guidelines on social distancing and PPE and this scheme gives them the opportunity to communicate these messages to their customers. There is an accompanying video and a downloadable consumer booklet
about facilitating safe working in private homes. Tilers are encouraged to pass this on to their customers. The booklet gives practical advice to homeowners about what COVID-safety measures should be discussed and carried out before, during and after work is done in and around their home. It also sets out the need for conversations to be had with the tradesperson and what actions they should expect their tradesperson to deliver. It provides clear and simple information on tasks that should be completed and a list of helpful questions to ask. Both the video and leaflet can be found at
