HiB –Style that stands the test of time T

he industrial trend has been around for many years and shows

little sign of disappearing. The combination of neutral colours, creative design and textured finishes, means bringing this modern look into the bathroom has never been easier. Ash Chilver, sales director at HiB, discusses. “This contemporary movement is more popular

than ever in the decoration of the home. Iron, cement, bare materials and almost-empty spaces are some of the trademarks of this type of environment.

“However, when it comes to applying this

decorative finish in the bathroom, it’s crucial to offer products that avoid creating a cold and bare atmosphere – the key is to combine the style with elements that provide a comfortable and relaxing touch. “Whilst homeowners may disagree on colour schemes, accessories and flooring options, there’s one aspect everyone can agree on; there has been an unmistakable shift in recent years in the role of the bathroom, from a practical room to an additional living area. Perhaps a result of the hectic nature of 21st-century living, or possibly a reflection of the increased focus on personal care; as people spend more time relaxing in the bathroom, it’s décor has changed as well. “A great way to maximise comfort without compromising the warehouse look, is by incorporating natural materials such as wood into the design. Wood is warm and cosy and balances out the glamorous shine of metals and darker colours to create more comfort, especially in the bathroom – a place of leisure and luxury. “Our new Aeon range for example,

encapsulates this authentic look and blends premium materials along with raw design details. The range uses high quality elements to create an original industrial aesthetic, with a contemporary, geometric ceramic basin and a subtle black metal shelf which is ideal for storing and displaying towels, all whilst retaining that touch of opulence.

“Industrial doesn’t have to mean cold and

uninviting. With this remaining a top trend, retailers should be mindful of the products which are best suited to the bathroom environment, not only to take advantage of the shifts in the market, but also to provide the best possible level of choice to their customers.” For more information on HiB Novum please
