Two companies futureproof business with swissQprint M
ayfield Press and Pip n Chip – two very different companies – have futureproofed
their businesses after investing in swissQprint machines. Digital and lithographic printer Mayfield Press was first introduced to a swissQprint machine in 2018. Investment in a Nyala 3 swiftly followed. Three years later, Mayfield Press upgraded its Nyala with an additional channel for varnish applications following a request a large Braille signage project from Microsoft.
Dan Warner, head of operations at Mayfield Press, said: “We can now offer
our clients so much more. This upgrade has helped us achieve new heights and has seen the Nyala grow with the needs of our business.”
Pip n Chip, a manufacturer of bobbin pins for cross-stitching, purchased its second-hand Impala 3 in November 2023 and chose to add an orange colour channel as part of the installation. To meet its needs of matching hundreds of spot colours, the orange ink significantly increased the machine’s colour gamut to deliver the precision customers required. Director Craig Wanstall said: “The Impala has had a dramatic impact on our production. We are delighted with

its precision, reliability, and overall performance.
“Purchasing a second-hand printer may have been seen as a risk, but the Swiss build quality is clear to see. This, combined with its ability to grow around our needs, has made the Impala the perfect machine for our business.”

S
igns Express Liverpool & Wirral has invested in a new HP Latex R530 all-in-one printer to strengthen its service offering and enhance its sustainability credentials. The business was purchased in December 2024 by Ian Furlong and Louise Sergent who were keen to upgrade the business’s print offering to support their expansion plans. Having previously seen the HP Latex R530 in action at the HP Graphics Experience Centre in Barcelona, the pair identified the printer as the ideal solution. Ms Sergent said: “Both of us class HP as being the market leader. We picked

up on how the machine can print onto a range of different materials, as well as the quality of the print on these different substrates.
“We also very much liked how the machine could print direct to board, which will help us towards achieving our sustainability goal. This was key for us as being environmentally friendly is important for our forward strategy. Add in that the centre did not previously have a flatbed printer and this hybrid machine was the perfect fit.”
The HP Latex R530 is the first to be installed in the UK across the entire Signs Express franchise network.

H Display has installed the UK’s first Mimaki TS330-3200DS grand-format printer to bring all dye sublimation work in-house. Bought from Soyang Hardware, the
Peterborough-based company obtained it to help maximise profits from printing jobs. It had previously purchased the Vivid
Veloblade Nexus from the distributor, and upon returning with the latest request, it was recommended the Mimaki hardware. The grand-format dye sublimation and direct-to-polyester printer is a super-high productivity device, operating at speeds of up to 150sq m/hr at 600dpi. It can print on media up to 3.2m wide,
allowing users to produce everything from soft signage, flags and home décor to display, backlit applications and blockout pieces.
