Launched earlier this year, the integrated system is intended for the demands of industrial fi nishing of printed boards for displays and packaging. Working together, the new machine components generate a speed of up to 2.8m/s. Acceleration of up to 2.1g is made possible by a new, linear drive system. The new substructure for Q-Line cutters is made from concrete to ensure optimum cutting precision even at extremely high speeds.

WHAT’S WHAT?

Drupa has a great website which you’d be well advised to use to plan your trip - there’s a personal organiser tool to help you - but here’s an overview of the key show features to get you on track…

DRUPA CUBE HALL 6

More than 50 sessions are planned for this conference on topics like how to increase your business success, the circular economy and sustainability, the future of print and packaging, as well as best practice examples highlighting new business models and trends. There will be fi ve keynotes from Vicky Pryce, chief economic advisor; Rory Sutherland, vice chairman Ogilvy; Mark Maslin, professor of Earth systems science at UCL; James Loudon, managing partner at Asia Growth Partners; and Calvin Lakhan, doctor at York University, Toronto.

DRUPA DNA HALL 7

This is an area devoted to helping young companies, young talents and start-ups to establish themselves, make contacts, and exchange ideas. For some participants, this is the fi rst chance ever to present their businesses to an international audience of experts.

DRUPA TOUCHPOINT SUSTAINABILITY HALL 14

Manufacturers, industry players, brands and users will show how ‘green’ change can become reality using best practice examples and via exhibits in the touchpoint sustainability space, where there will also be a programme of talks. The intention is to delve into the role of the printing and paper industries within sustainable transformation and offer an overview of current, mid- and long-term goals and developments. And there will be insights into foreseeable regulatory changes and challenges.

DRUPA TOUCHPOINT PACKAGING HALL 3

This area has been designed as an inspiration hub based on fi ve main topic areas. In Drupaspeak

these are: Neo-ecology - embarking on circular packaging and advancing toward genuine responsibility and sustainability; Connectivity - exploring new technologies and looking at the advances in packaging production and marketing; Glocalosation - balancing global effi ciency and the expectations of local consumer markets; Consumers minds - unveiling the new face of individualism and the signifi cance of health and security; Future regulations – nativaging green pressures and combating greenwashing through enhanced transparency. Beyond this, there will be discussion of important questions regarding global megatrends and their impact on packaging production, for example sustainability and e-commerce.

There will be a focus on intelligent packaging solutions and the bringing together of brand owners with designers, print service providers and converters. The involvement of students and young talents in partner projects with exhibitors will show packaging solutions for folding boxes, labels, fl exible packaging and corrugated cardboard.

DRUPA TOUCHPOINT TEXTILE A digital textile micro factory will be the highlight here, boasting an integrated workfl ow starting with the customer enquiry and design through to large-format digital textile printing. The micro factory will demonstrate an automated, on-demand production, textile printing, cutting and sorting process - without any manual interaction. In cooperation with 12 partners from

industry and research bodies, it will aim to demonstrate new possibilities for digitasation and direct customer involvement - for instance, in the form of 3D apparel simulations complete with links to design networks for creative input. 2024 will see the design competition ‘Drupa - textile design talents’ being held for the fi rst time too.
