CANON
Canon will give a new Arizona 2300 FLXfl ow fl atbed wide-format printer with PrismaElevate XL its fi rst European showing at Drupa, following its launch at ISA in the US.
The new FLXfl ow offers not only the original ‘Hold’ functionality to help media stay in place on the zoneless table, but also a ‘Float’ and ‘Instant Switch’ media handling options. The Arizona 2300 FLXfl ow also offers image layout controls which allow last minute adjustments at the printer. A new version 2.1 of PrismaElevate XL doubles the printing height to 4mm to help PSPs produce tactile applications. The Arizona 2300 FLXfl ow is modular, with fi eld upgradeability and roll media options. The printer will be available from June.
Users of the current Arizona 2300 with Flow technology can upgrade to the latest version with FLXfl ow functionalities, including the optional Float and Instant Switch features. Canon also announced that packaging would
be a key strategic focus going forward and said it would show a new corrugated printer in concept at Drupa.
Aimed at the high graphics retail packaging
market, the machine will print up to 1.7m wide and at up to 8,000m2
/hr.
The company is aiming for the fi rst installations in mid 2026.
DURST Durst has announced that at Drupa it will unveil
the P5 SMP (super multi pass) high volume production LED printer with a top speed of
2,000m2
/hr and aimed at the graphics, displays, corrugated and industrial decoration.
EPSON
Epson is launching a successor to its SureColor SC-P20000 large-format production printer for the photo and fi ne-art markets. The new 64in, 12-colour, SureColor SC-P20500 will be spotlighted at Drupa. The printer’s inkset now includes orange, green and violet plus a switchable black-enhanced overcoat mode. Despite the addition of extra colours, the Epson SC-P20500 offers the same 8-pass print speed of 19.2m2
/h as the SC-
P20000, faster data processing and a 1.6-litre ink pack, which approximately halves the number of ink changes compared to its predecessor. The SC-P20500 incorporates the same printhead - Epson’s PrecisionCore MicroTFP - as the SC-P9500 but has Nozzle Verifi cation Technology that automatically detects and adjusts the nozzle to prevent clogging, and printhead and media dust covers.
There is spindleless loading and intuitive operation via a 4.3in touchscreen for ease of use,
and there’s automatic encryption (format: AES-2560) for easy data storage and control, via the printer’s touchscreen and/or Epson WebConfi g, while offering the option of up to nearly 1TB SSD storage. Compliant with EnergyStar v3.1, the energy efficient SC-P20500 is more sustainably manufactured with 30% recycled plastic. The 1.6-litre ink bags further improve the product’s environmental sustainability by reducing plastic usage per litre by 90%, compared with using cartridges.
The SC-P20500 is easy to set up and confi gure and supported with Epson software for high production customers. Epson Edge Print Pro is supplied as standard, while Epson Media Installer can be downloaded and used for simple media confi guration. Epson Cloud Solution Port Support is also available for printer monitoring. The Adobe Embedded Print Engine is included into the optional available Adobe PS module to improve PDF reproduction and provide faster Rip processing.
FUJIFILM
Fujifilm will show-off a new Aquafuze inkjet ink technology, which combines water- based and UV curable ink. Aquafuze - a Fujifilm proprietary technology for stable water dispersion of photopolymers - helps to reduce clogging of the inkjet printhead. The ink adheres to a wide variety of substrates without pre- coat primers and optimisers. The company said printed image thickness is reduced, and the ink surface becomes more even, resulting in light reflection, and a glossy appearance.
Fujifilm will also preview a robotic automation system that allows Acuity Hybrid wide-format machines to run the unit

with a single operator, and which facilitates a pallet-to-pallet process for rigid substrates. It can be set to deliver full or half automation. The system has four lanes and allows four rows of material to be printed simultaneously.
There’s also an optional ionization unit which removes unwanted static from substrates that are difficult to print on. At Drupa, Fujifilm will demonstrate the unloader function on a brand new machine.
