All-in-one outdoor heat pump for simple boiler replacement
A UK startup has unveiled a new heat pump system designed to make switching from gas boilers faster, cheaper and far less disruptive for homeowners. Developed by Nusku, the system combines a heat pump and hot water cylinder within a single outdoor unit, removing the need for indoor equipment that would typically require space and internal modifications. By housing all key components externally, the design reduces installation time to a few days compared with longer timeframes associated with conventional systems. The patent-pending unit is designed to deliver
higher temperature output than some standard heat pumps, which may reduce the need to replace existing radiators when transitioning from a gas boiler. This could help limit both installation complexity and overall cost. The system is also being developed with integrated smart controls, allowing remote monitoring and adjustment to support system performance and energy use. The product is aimed at two- and three-bedroom
homes and has undergone initial testing at the Energy House facility at the University of Salford. Prototype units are currently being trialled in homes

in Bristol, with further trials planned in other locations ahead of a proposed market launch in 2027. Russell Murchie, CEO and co-founder of Nusku,
says: “Our design will make it quicker and easier for people to replace their gas boilers and switch to renewable energy with a heat pump that meets all their needs.” ◼

Radiator furniture for entrance areas
The Radiator Company has introduced the Ancona Console Table to its growing collection of design-led heating solutions. Seamlessly blending contemporary aesthetics with practical functionality, the radiator off ers a solution for space conscious homes. Reimagining the classic
Ancona multi-column radiator in a furniture design, the Ancona Console Table combines practical shelving with effi cient heat output to provide a convenient solution for entrance areas and hallways. The radiator suits any interior style and can be used as a slim console or side table. The radiator is 971mm high
and available in three or four column confi gurations. Produced in 60 diff erent colours, there is also a choice of three solid timber tops, including Ash, Oak and Walnut and a range of diff erent widths to suit varying heat output requirements. White radiators with Ash tops are available from stock, Oak and Walnut tops plus painted fi nishes are made to order. National sales manager
Richard Lister says: “The Ancona Console Table allows us to evolve the role of the radiator beyond functionality, embracing its place as a stunning furniture piece that delivers on performance and timeless elegance.” ◼

Now available from Zehnder is the EVO, a Passivhaus- certifi ed, ultra-slim mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system designed to overcome installation challenges in confi ned spaces. Featuring a minimalist design (~210 mm in depth),
the EVO is designed for installation in ceilings, pitched roofs, slimline cupboards, or service voids. The MVHR is purpose-built to be mounted either on ceilings or walls, horizontally, vertically or at an angle and features fl exible bi-directional spigots to ensure smooth air fl ow at any angle as well as a double- rotating condensate drain so no inclination is required. Where previously specifi ers had viewed indoor
environments with signifi cant space constraints as potentially unviable or more challenging for MVHRs, the fl exibility and size of the Zehnder EVO changes everything, particularly for off site-built projects such as POD manufacturing and modular housing. The system off ers a heat recovery effi ciency rate of
up to 90%, ensuring minimal heat loss. The system also includes a 100% summer bypass function, which helps to reduce overheating in the summer months. ◼

Heat pumps to meet a variety of applications
The Therma V heat pump range from LG has been expanded with two new additions: the Therma V Monobloc S, a residential air-to-water heat pump, and the Therma V R32 Monobloc 51kW, designed for commercial and multi-family applications. The Monobloc S is designed with all refrigerant
components contained within the outdoor unit, allowing installation without the need for a certifi ed refrigerant handler. It is available in capacities from 5 to 16kW and uses R290 refrigerant, operating at temperatures down to -25°C and delivering water temperatures of up to 75°C. The unit is also smaller and lighter than its predecessor, which may assist where space is limited. The Therma V R32 Monobloc 51kW is suited for
higher-demand applications, delivering 51kW of heating capacity from a compact footprint. It maintains full capacity down to -10°C and can be
installed using water connections only. Multiple units can be linked in cascade to meet larger heating requirements. Both systems support remote monitoring and control through LG’s ThinQ app and BECON cloud platform. The R290 Monobloc S (5-9kW) option is available
now, with the higher kW option available in August. The R32 51kW is already available. ◼

Buff er vessel in tight installations
Newark Cylinders has introduced the Aquinox Pancake Buff er Vessel, a stainless steel buff er vessel developed for heat pump installations where space and ceiling height are restricted. The unit provides buff er capacity in situations where conventional cylindrical vessels cannot be installed due to spatial constraints. Starting from just 200mm in height, the vessel is
available in wider diameters up to 600mm and can be installed above or below a hot water cylinder. This stacked confi guration allows use of otherwise unused plant room space while limiting overall system height. Manufactured in stainless steel, the vessel is off ered
with customisable connection positions and sizes. It also features a re-purposable drain connection that can be used for a stat pocket, supporting installation fl exibility in retrofi t environments where space was not originally designed for heat pump systems. ◼
