Learn about renewables at Sheffield Academy
Clean energy tech company Aira is inviting independent plumbers and electricians to take advantage of its extended training facility in Sheffield. The Aira Academy has the capacity to train 100 people per month and has already trained over 500 of the company’s employees since its opening in May 2024. Sarah Stevens, Aira Academy
manager, comments: “We’re proud to be extending our training capabilities at the Academy. Electrification is central to lowering energy bills, decarbonising homes and improving the UK’s energy security. Expanding the Academy allows us to help more installers develop the skills needed to deliver that transition.” The Aira Academy is LCL
Awards accredited and a registered training provider for the Heat Training Grant scheme for heat pumps and low- temperature system design courses. Qualifying candidates can

receive up to £850 for the cost of training, in some cases making certain courses free. For paying trainees, courses start at £190 and are available individually or in bundles. Jack Sutcliffe, Aira Academy
trainer, adds: “Opening the Academy to external installers, alongside our employees, allows us to support the UK’s decarbonisation goals while helping plumbers, electricians and engineers gain valuable skills in
one of the fastest-growing sectors in the energy transition.” Popular courses include Level 3
Awards in Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump Systems and Design, Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems, as well as the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme. For more information on all

A new Learning Management System (LMS) has been launched by Zehnder - a digitised learning platform that makes training and knowledge more accessible to all HVAC professionals. The portal will work alongside the in-person training already offered by the company. Recently appointed training manager Adam Finley (pictured above) will
design and deliver courses using the LMS platform. These sessions will combine virtual classroom, instructor-led training and self-paced e-learning modules, focusing on data-driven insights and performance dashboards to link training outcomes to improved installation quality. “By combining in-person technical expertise with our new integrated
Learning Management System, we’re creating a structured, measurable learning journey that not only builds confidence but demonstrably improves installation quality, reduces call-backs and drives best practice in indoor climate solutions,” says Adam. Adam will also be looking to collaborate with institutions and education
bodies to broaden the Academy’s reach to ensure training content reflects the latest industry standards and regulatory developments. ◼

Radiator training van now on tour
Helping to mark Stelrad’s 90th anniversary this year, the radiator manufacturer’s training van is now one of various merchant branches across the country. As well as learning about the company’s latest products, installers will have the opportunity to win special 90th anniversary giveaways by taking part in the ‘Stelrad 90 second challenge’ by fitting a TRV and lockshield valve onto a mini radiator. Those who take part will also
receive an additional free 90 loyalty points added to their Stelrad or Henrad loyalty club accounts. “It’s an opportunity for
installers new and old to reacquaint themselves with the Stelrad range of radiators and see the options available to them
and their customers – the ranges are wide and varied and offer some stunning options that they may not have considered seriously before,” says communications manager Sarah Baker. ◼
