PHAM NEWS | JUNE 2026 Training& Education 29

Increasing focus on energy effi ciency

Trianco has expanded its training programme focused on renewable and energy-effi cient technologies. The company off ers comprehensive, hands-on training designed for heating engineers and installers looking to develop skills in modern systems such as air source heat pumps. Central to the programme is training on Trianco’s Activair R290 heat pump range, covering everything from system design and operation to installation, commissioning, servicing and fault- fi nding. Delivered either at the company’s UK facilities or

on-site through a fully equipped mobile demonstration unit, the courses provide practical, real-world experience to help installers build confi dence and competence.

sessions free of charge, making it easier for professionals to upskill and adapt to the growing demand for low-carbon heating solutions. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/626/30

Course to overcome poor hydronic design

Targeting installers working with domestic heating systems, Warmur Academy is launching Hydronics Unlocked, a new digital course teaching heating engineers to design, optimise and troubleshoot modern domestic heating systems. To achieve top effi ciencies from

boilers and heat pumps, installers need to know the fundamentals of good hydronic design – the rules that govern how water and heat move around a system. Boilers

have long masked the eff ects of poor hydronic design, but heat pumps, lower fl ow temperatures and tighter boiler regulations are now making these skills impossible to ignore. This kind of training isn’t yet

mainstream, leaving many engineers without the skills to design correctly or problem solve. “I see it all the time,” says

Kimbo Betty, co-founder of Warmur Academy. “When the system’s not working properly,

engineers reach for what feels like a logical fi x: a bigger pump, a bigger boiler, another powerfl ush, and miss the real cause. Guesswork will continue to hold them back until we fi x system training.” Hydronics Unlocked has been

developed with the support of Ideal Heating and the Warmur Academy team will be on the Ideal Heating stand at this month’s Installer Show. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/626/31

A new heat pump training centre has opened at Stratford-upon-Avon College in Warwickshire with support from Lord Combustion Services. The facility will help increase training capacity in the West Midlands for renewable heating technologies. Lord Combustion Services, a commercial heating and ventilation specialist based in Oldbury, contributed technical expertise and industry input during the development of the centre. The facility features training rigs that

simulate real-world heat pump installations, allowing hands-on experience with the latest renewable heating systems so students can be equipped with the skills they need to succeed. The centre will serve as a regional

hub for heat pump installation training, with the College actively collaborating with employers across the West Midlands and Warwickshire to ensure awareness of the training opportunities available. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/626/32
