Ventilation products from GILBERTS BLACKPOOL are helping the four-star Social Hub Glasgow provide the perfect hospitality ambience. As the first community-focused hybrid hospitality venue in the UK, the development is also Scotland’s largest hotel, at 20,000m² and 494 bedrooms. Ventilation throughout the venue –
that combines hotel and student accommodation with co-working spaces, plus bars, restaurants and a gym – is provided by Gilberts’ grilles and diffusers, such as bespoke extract diffusers, ceiling-mounted swirl diffusers, square louvred face diffusers and exposed ductwork grilles. The ventilation products were
selected to meet the diverse needs of the different areas within the Social Hub Glasgow, including high-capacity requirements in the bar and easy-to- clean units in the kitchen. The products were also chosen to complement the modern aesthetic of the venue. “The UK hotel industry is experiencing

Supermarket adopts -15°C frozen
food storage to drive sustainability In a move to make significant energy savings, MORRISONS is set to become the first UK retailer to take action with the Move to -15°C Coalition by turning the freezers up in 10 stores by 3°C. Studies have shown that
an increase of just 3°C in freezer temperatures across the supply chain could transform the global logistics landscape by cutting carbon emissions, saving energy and lowering costs. In signing the Move to -15°C coalition’s letter of intent, Morrisons is also committing to advocate through the UK supply chain for food producers, logistics operations and retailers to join the coalition. For Morrisons, the
carbon savings will be an important boost to its ambitions to achieve net zero carbon emissions from its own operations by

2035, and the cost savings will enable Morrisons to further cut, hold or promote prices in its supermarkets and convenience stores over the long term. Ruth McDonald,

We now have vastly better freezers and modern technology and monitoring that gives us a precise picture of frozen food
temperatures throughout the supply chain. We applaud the Move to -15°C movement for their original thinking and willingness to challenge a long-accepted standard. “So we are embracing the opportunity and putting together a concrete plan and timetable to increase the freezer temperatures across our stores and frozen supply chain by 3°C.
