HVAC upgrade enhances comfort
and performance at local gym SFE SERVICES has completed a significant project to enhance the air conditioning system at Anytime Fitness Loudwater, a prominent gym in Buckinghamshire known for its modern facilities and 24/7 access. The project involved both the extension of the existing system, which was originally installed a decade ago, and necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance. New air conditioning units were installed in the upstairs training studio, while the older system underwent thorough upgrades to address various repairs and replacements. SFE Services efficiently managed these tasks, ensuring seamless operation throughout the gym. They also provide ongoing preventative maintenance and repair services.
Throughout the installation process,
SFE Services emphasised customer support by clearly explaining what components were being replaced and the reasons for the upgrades. This approach not only optimised the system’s functionality but also educated the management team on proper usage, helping to extend the equipment’s lifespan and reduce breakdowns. Maintaining the right temperature is
essential for client safety and comfort, making SFE Services’ meticulous work critical for creating a healthy workout environment. Their commitment to expert advice and regular maintenance ensures the air conditioning system operates efficiently and effectively. ▄

HVAC System for garden centre
Tingley Garden Centre, a sustainable garden centre near Leeds, has been equipped with a high-efficiency HVAC system designed by BRENG, a low carbon building services specialist. The HVAC system
combines heat pumps, passive heat recovery and solar PV to create a self-sufficient and environmentally-friendly solution. The original plan for natural ventilation augmented with heat pumps was found to be insufficient in handling high summer loads and providing adequate heating in the winter. The final design by
BREng, installed by EBA Climate Limited, features a fresh air ventilation solution with incoming and

outgoing air passed through a high-efficiency Daikin passive heat recovery system, supported by Daikin VRV heat pumps. One heat pump serves the retail area and provides heating and cooling to the cafe, restaurant and children’s play area, and the other provides hot water for washrooms and kitchens via connected VRV hot water modules. The garden centre also
features a rainwater harvesting system, LED
lighting and a roof- mounted PV system that produces up to 350kW of electricity to power the HVAC systems, lighting, and on-site EV chargers, with any surplus fed into the grid.
The design of the HVAC
system was carefully coordinated with the electrical services and lighting to ensure a neat and unobtrusive final installation, with all overhead building services exposed and visible. ▄

Health and beauty brand brightens stores
Health and beauty retailer Bodycare has partnered with TRILUX to upgrade the lighting in its store network as part of an ongoing store improvement programme. Bodycare faced the challenge of enhancing the in-store ambiance while keeping costs down and ensuring a quick installation process. Trilux Lighting provided a tailored lighting solution that addressed Bodycare’s requirements. Two main concepts were implemented across the stores: the Toko + Quira EW CRI 94 luminaires for stores with recessed ceilings, and the E-Line Next LED continuous line system with spotlights in
black, for stores without recessed ceilings.
The high colour rendering index (CRI 94) of the Toko and Quira luminaires ensures that Bodycare’s merchandise is presented in the best possible light, making product displays more appealing to customers. The E-Line Next LED system, known for its exceptional light quality, offered the flexibility to add spotlights to highlight specific product displays in the stores without recessed ceilings. The ease of installation of the E-Line
system allowed for quick and efficient store turnarounds, aligning with Bodycare’s need for a fast and cost-effective lighting upgrade. The new lighting solution not only improved the visual appeal of the stores but also proved to be a cost-effective investment for the retailer.” ▄

HVAC solutions from CIAT have been specified for the Radisson RED Liverpool, the first outpost of the prestigious international hotel chain in the north of England. The hotel, housed in a Grade II-listed property with roots dating back to the 1800s, underwent extensive renovations to transform it into a 10-storey hotel with 201

HVAC solutions to ensure optimal indoor air quality for guests and staff. Five CLIMACIAT Airaccess units from its flagship AHU range were installed to provide high-quality comfort and fresh air, with integrated heat recovery systems making use of energy that would otherwise be lost from the
CIAT worked closely with building services engineering specialists to ensure the equipment was delivered on time and to schedule. The AHUs were fully pre-built from the factory and mounted on CIAT monobloc chassis solutions, allowing them to be lifted as one whole piece to save time. Due to the hotel’s proximity to the Liverpool Docks, the equipment was also fully coastal-protected to prevent corrosion from the saline environment. ▄
