Education The interactive
touchscreen: finding its role in edtech trends
Nadav Avni, chief marketing officer of Radix Technologies looks at the practicalities of touchscreen management within the educational environment.
S
chools are always changing for the better and technology has evolved from chalk to the interactive touchscreen. Classrooms, once reliant on messy chalk sticks, replaced the chalkboard with the projector and

The use of smart devices – such as school-issued laptops and tablets – has become standard practice among progressive school districts. The presence of an interactive touchscreen has also set a new standard in classroom learning. As educational technology showcases modern improvements, forward-thinking school districts will continue to adopt them early on. Though educational technology continues to churn out advances year in

By the time they reach preschool, these children have already grasped
the ABCs and other basic knowledge using their parent’s touchscreen- enabled smartphone or tablet. Subjecting these digital native youngsters to a whiteboard/projector/VHS player system at school would be counterproductive.
Apart from usability, school administrators must also consider a
program’s return on investment. Will adopting this new technology mean better learning experiences for our students? Will it truly help our teachers teach better? How much more will this technology cost us to maintain and repair over time? As far as financial returns go for educational systems, interactive
touchscreen technology has been one of the best innovations in recent years. Of course, the warm reception to this technology stems from the

Meanwhile, the benefits of interactive touchscreen technology stem far
beyond the continuity of learning. Studies show that interactive touchscreen devices make students more interested in learning. The more interested they are, the more engaged they remain and the better they retain the lesson’s information.
