Vista Outdoor to separate firearm and cycling divisions V


ista Outdoor Inc. has announced plans to separate its firearms and outdoor goods segments into two independent, publicly-traded companies. The company expects to create these companies through


a tax-free spin-off of its Outdoor Products segment to Vista Outdoor shareholders. Following the separation, the company said its Outdoor


Products segment will be an industry-leading platform of outdoor brands including CamelBak, Bell, Giro, Camp Chef, Bushnell, Bushnell Golf, Foresight Sports, Stone Glacier and QuietKat. As an independent company, Sporting Products will continue to focus on ammunition categories through brands including Federal, Remington, CCI, Speer, Estate Cartridge and Hevi-Shot. Outdoor Products, which the company said will be renamed at a later date, will serve consumers in a diverse and fast-


United Sports Brands acquires Pearl Izumi from Shimano

nited Sports Brands (USB) has acquired Pearl Izumi USA from Shimano. The manufacturer and retailer of cycling apparel


and accessories will join USB’s portfolio of protective and performance sports equipment sold under the Shock Doctor, McDavid, Cutters, Nathan, and Glukos brands. Pearl Izumi was acquired by Shimano in 2008 and the brand has since realised significant US and international growth, driven by its core road cycling apparel category and by emerging categories such as mountain bike, casual apparel, and footwear.■

Raleigh takes over UK distribution of Babboe cargo bikes


Raleigh has announced that it is taking on the UK distribution of Babboe Cargo Bikes. The company launched its own electric cargo bike range Stride last year and said it is excited to take on Babboe too. A UK-specific range of Babboe bikes, accessories and spares will be kept in stock in Raleigh’s Nottingham warehouse with support from local account managers, as well as expert internal warranty and support teams. Lee Kidger, Raleigh UK managing director, said: “Electric cargo bikes offer low cost, sustainable transport for families and businesses, and present a huge opportunity for UK retailers.” ■
