Is blending together strategic tactics and character-driven storytelling something you’ve both wanted to do for a while? Kodaka: The theme of this scenario is “war.” In order to realize a scenario in which students fight together after being attacked by an unknown enemy, I chose a tactics RPG system. I wanted them to fight together, not one by one like in action games. As such, we decided to focus on the story,
not the systems. Uchikoshi: I’ve always loved strategy tactics games, such as “Sakura Wars” and “Ogre Battle.” So, when Kodaka proposed this, I had no reason to object. Also, many of Kodaka’s and my fans are ADV game [visual novel] fans, so strategy tactics, which allow you to take your time to plan your strategy, seemed like a good fit for the fans.
