At the London Chocolate Forum 2025, Chris Vincent, President of the World Cocoa Foundation, delivered a keynote that reviewed where the cocoa sector stands in


relation to the upcoming EU Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR) and charted the next phase of the sustainability journey.

hen Chris Vincent took the stage at the London Chocolate Forum on 9 October 2025, the atmosphere was one


of anticipation—and a little unease. The president of the World Cocoa Foundation

(WCF) was about to address the issue weighing on every chocolate executive’s mind: the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and what it really means for cocoa. Vincent did not mince words. “There’s no doubt,” he said early on, “that EUDR


has given this a massive push to where we are today.” But he also cautioned that compliance is not the endgame. “The journey has started, it won’t stop— and I think overall it’s very good news for the industry.”
