Responsibility meets progress: Anuga FoodTec 2024 as the signpost

nuga FoodTec 2024 reaffirmed its status as a premier supplier trade fair and a central hub for the global food and beverage industries. With ‘Responsibility’ as its overarching theme, the trade fair and its extensive program addressed crucial issues ranging from alternative protein sources to energy and water management, digitalisation,


and artificial intelligence. Presenting new technologies and concepts for sustainable resource management across the value chain, the event attracted 1,307 companies and nearly 40,000 trade visitors from 133 countries, solidifying Anuga FoodTec’s position as a pioneer in future- oriented food technology solutions. Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, noted that the discussions, presentations, and new products showcased at Anuga Foo dTec emphasised the importance of making bold decisions today for a sustainable and prosperous future. Prof. Katharina Riehn, Chairwoman of the DLG Food competence centre and Vice President of the DLG, underscored the exemplary interdisciplinary networking achieved at the event, crucial for fostering innovations essential for the future food system.

Innovations like high-pressure processing and industrial-scale cultivated food production were also presented, showcasing the industry’s commitment to economic and ecological sustainability.


A notable addition to the event was the ‘Environment & Energy’ exhibition area, focusing on progressive energy solutions such as solar thermics, heat pumps, biogas, and biomass to reduce CO₂ emissions and increase energy efficiency in the food industry. The International FoodTec Award highlighted 14 innovative projects from global food and supplier industries.


The event attracted high-quality international exhibitors and top decision-makers from leading companies worldwide, including AB InBev, Nestlé, Unilever, and many others. With nearly 40,000 trade visitors from 133 countries, including a significant foreign share, Anuga FoodTec 2024 showcased a diverse range of exhibits and live demonstrations. DLG, will return to Cologne from February 23 to 26, 2027, continuing its role as the leading international supplier fair for the global food and beverage industries.
