“Twenty-five years is a long time in this industry, and to still be growing, still be welcoming new Members and still have Suppliers backing us the way they do says everything about the people in this Group.”

Operations Director Mark Veysey added: “It’s been brilliant to see everyone come together in our anniversary year – here’s to the next 25!” The event also helped take Sirius’ fundraising total for OCHRE to £13,500.

AMDEA calls for recycling resilience AMDEA CEO Stefan Hay says: “Appliance

The UK Home Appliance Association (AMDEA) is calling for Government to work together with business to create the policies needed to build resilient, long-term UK recycling capacity.

The UK fridge and cooling appliance treatment

and recycling capacity is currently under pressure following the closure of major treatment plants. This loss of specialist treatment capacity is placing pressure on collection systems, treatment operators, compliance schemes, local authorities and appliance producers. Defra has announced that they recognise that temporary storage arrangements may be required until new treatment capacity becomes available and that these should be funded by the Producer Compliance Schemes (PCS).

producers already pay millions every year to fund the collection and treatment of waste electrical equipment through the UK’s producer responsibility system (the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation or ‘WEEE’). Years of under-investment and a lack of incentives for recycling businesses to invest in infrastructure have now left parts of the UK’s recycling system dangerously exposed. This means that there simply isn’t enough specialist recycling capacity currently following the recent closure of major recycling facilities. “We need policies that encourage investment before capacity becomes critical.

Building and

operating specialist treatment centres requires substantial capital investment, technical expertise and regulatory approval. Government and industry must work together to create the certainty and incentives needed to build resilient, long-term UK recycling capacity and that does not mean placing an even greater financial burden on manufacturers alone to shore up a systemic lack of resilience in the UK’s recycling infrastructure .”

Miele cooks up bigger independent

offer with CIH and Soloco

Miele is expanding its partnerships with CIH and Soloco as the premium appliance manufacturer

reaffirms its

long-term commitment to independent electrical retailers across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. From 2 November 2026, a wider selection of Miele kitchen appliances will become available to independent electrical retailers exclusively through the two buying groups. The move builds on Miele’s existing

relationships with CIH and Soloco and is designed to simplify access to its appliance portfolio while opening up further opportunities for eligible members of both groups. Jamie Lockey, Sales Director at Miele GB, said: “Independent electrical retailers are a strategically important part of Miele’s route to market, and we remain firmly committed to supporting the channel. “We have worked successfully with CIH and Soloco for many years. By building on these established partnerships, we can make a wider Miele product offer available to independent retailers while continuing to provide the expertise, support and close working relationships our partners value. “We look forward to working with CIH, Soloco and their members ahead of the expanded arrangements taking effect in November.” The new arrangements come into effect on 2 November, with Miele directing retailers seeking further information to their Miele Business Development Manager or respective buying group.
