Sirius Buying Group has reported that its Autumn tradeshow had a record turnout, as approved members discovered the latest products and exclusive deals from market leading suppliers. The show took place over two days at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes last month.
Managing Director, Steve Jones, explained: “The decision to move to a two-day event at a larger venue was an honest representation of how far we have come, as well as indicating the direction that the group is headed in terms of serving independent retailers on a greater scale.”
Euronics highlights its stores are ‘closer
than you know’ in ad campaign Euronics has launched its new, always-on advertising campaign championing its agents and showcasing the neighbourly touch it delivers to the local communities it serves. The advert follows the morning journey of a Euronics store owner, walking to work and interacting with her local community. The aim is to highlight that its stores are “closer than you know” and its Euronics Way brand promise, to give communities the helping hand they need before, during and after a customer’s purchase. “We are dedicated to serving our local communities; many Euronics agents are family businesses based on highstreets across the country – and that is our power,” commented Paul Goldsmith, Head of Marketing and Ecommerce at Euronics UK. “With this new campaign we wanted to highlight the dedication, knowledge and support our agents provide to their local area. We also wanted to place the consumer at the heart of the story to creative a narrative that speaks directly to the needs and desires of our customers.” it said was to ensure “enhanced functionality to improve the consumer experience”.
The show provided an extensive preview of next year’s trends with Sirius members having the opportunity to cherry-pick from the best new products and enjoy special deals and rewards from the likes of Siemens, Neff, Bosch, Hotpoint, Stoves, Haier, Montpellier, Liebherr, CDA and Caple. There were also a cooking demonstrations and
refreshments on the Hotpoint and BSH stands. The show also led tributes to Peter Gilks, Co- Founder and now Former Director of the buying group, following his retirement. He took on the role of Director in 2005. Members and suppliers thanked Mr Gilks for his 22-year service to the industry. Added to this, the group’s Awards Gala Dinner culminated in a generous charity auction to support Bristol-based charity, the Billie Elizabeth Wood Trust. It helps support research in subarachnoid haemorrhage. It is a pertinent cause within the industry and in particular, Danny Lay, Managing Director of Caple.

A study has shown that a third of adults will spend less on Christmas compared to last year – equating to a £562 million shrink in spending. The research, conducted by Novuna Personal Finance, shows that average Christmas gift budgets have dropped by over 10 per cent this year, from £101 in 2022, to £90 per family member. Theresa Lindsay, Group Marketing Director at Novuna Personal Finance, commented: “Our research shows a clear shift in spending habits, with people budgeting less on Christmas gifts than last year. Heading into the festive season, we can see consumers readily making cutbacks in their plans for gifting.

The study also found that nearly one in three younger adults (16-34-year-olds) will shun Christmas Day festivities to pursue early Boxing Day bargains online, whilst people are also considering how to avoid unwanted gifts and trim their shopping lists.
