This clever cordless Crossover simultaneous washes and vacuums all hard floor surfaces for maximum efficiency, but it can also be used to freshen up carpets and rugs. It is operated at the push of a button – but even if that’s a little too much, there’s also a voice control option! Elsewhere, ROIDMI’s current floorcare range includes three multi-purpose models (RS40, X30VX, and X30 Pro) all of which can vacuum and wet-wipe or mop simultaneously. For hard floors this can halve the cleaning time as these machines vacuum up dust and dirt and then wet wipe the floor in a single pass.

“Looking to the future, vacuum mops will certainly shake-up the cleaning sector,” exclaims Mr Johnson. Dan Harvie, VP Head of Home Appliances, Samsung Electronics (UK), agrees: “It’s a great selling point for those with laminate or tiles in the kitchen and then carpets throughout the rest of the house.” With an additional Spray Spinning Sweeper attachment to simultaneously mop hard floors with disposable wet pads, Samsung’s Bespoke Jet is a powerful, light and efficient cordless cleaner. It has an All-in-One Clean Station that can automatically empty the dust and delivers hygienic cleaning with a 99.999 per cent Multi-Layered Filtration System.

Pet practicalities With 3.2 million people in the UK buying a pet during the pandemic, a third of animal lovers now admit they were totally unprepared for the amount of pet hair that now dominates the home! According to AEG research, 41 per cent of consumers think they need to replace their broken or tired vacuum cleaner to make lighter work of the pet’s shedding coat around their home. So experts believe that consumers will be searching even more for animal-friendly tech.

And the AEG 8000 Series Cordless Cleaner is a good example; it includes a pet nozzle, but other functions include a mop nozzle and a hard floor nozzle for dust pick-up in crevices. It’s said to offer six times more powerful suction than any standard vacuum, making it a worthwhile consideration for pet owners. And retailers should offer demonstrations to help highlight such benefits, the brand says. Meanwhile, as part of Tower’s VL Series, the VL20PET and VL80PET (pictured below) come equipped with a pet brush to cleverly pick up any deeply embedded pet hairs. Both models feature anti-allergy HEPA filters which capture 99.95 per cent of fine particles to prevent irritation caused by allergens.

RKW’s Mr Ricioppo adds: “Those who prefer a more traditional option will be excited to hear about the Tower VL20 corded vacuum cleaner with its three-in-one functionality and five metre power cable so it can reach any area of the home.” Talking of corded options, we can’t forget Hoover’s new Push & Lift HL5 vacuum – which offers two machine types in one; with one step on the foot pedal, it goes from an upright to a portable vacuum, ideal for stairs and even the car. The HL5 has been designed in the UK to meet the needs of UK consumers, following extensive research and in-home testing. Specially-developed bristles and a velvet brush bar mean it can offer a deep clean on all floors, with a suction regulator valve ergonomically positioned in the handle so users can easily adapt as they move from room to room. In addition, the washable HEPA H13 filter traps

allergens, while the Anti-Twist floorhead solves the problem of hairs getting tangled around the brush bar – thanks to the integrated robust comb that actively untangles hairs during cleaning.>>
