ANALYSIS: FLOORCARE Home Appliances

Miele’s new Triflex HX2

Dirty minds 18

Homes are getting messier these days but thankfully new floorcare gadgets are doing all the hard work! Jack Cheeseman sorts the dirt from the details…

A

clean home environment remains a top priority for many consumers as hybrid working has become the norm, and for the year ahead, ease and convenience will continue to

be a dominating trend. With home organisation trends and cleaning ‘hacks’ dominating social media nowadays, house-proud consumers are eager to make their homes a haven amongst the blurred boundaries of work and personal spaces. And with around half of all floorcare sales

being distress purchases, retailers that make the replacement process quick and easy will ensure that shoppers get exactly what they need. According to Mintel’s 2022 SDA report, “vacuums continue to become more innovative, and many consumers are seeking out automated technology and cordless vacuums to make their daily lives a bit easier”. In response to this demand, brands are designing

high-performance, feature-rich vacuuming solutions; they are investing in more advanced technologies and, as a result, lightweight, manoeuvrable cordless vacs will continue to be a growing trend. Geoff Johnson, Sales Director at Witt UK and Ireland (the distributor of ROIDMI floorcare across Europe), believes that the cordless concept is here to stay…

“Battery technology and efficiency

continue to improve,” he says, “with flagship models now offering the sort of suction that required mains power only a few years ago, and exceptionally long run times too. “Our new 2023 ROIDMI X300 model [right], for example, offers over 200 Air-Watts of suction power at its highest setting, and on its economy mode it will run for 90 minutes.” There’s also the 270-degree handle for ease of use, anti-tangle v-brush, and automated lighting on both the main floorhead and the crevice tool. In addition, this is the first ROIDMI vac with a hot-swappable 4,000mAh battery pack, meaning users can buy a spare and charge one while using the other.

Also able to deliver impressive suction power is Beko’s PowerClean Pro cordless cleaner; thanks to its PerformCyclone Technology it will lift even the smallest dust particles from carpets and hard floors, for up to 60 minutes at a time. For added ease, the LCD screen provides the user with its charge status and power levels.

Elsewhere, at the end of last year Hoover introduced its highest performing cordless stick vacuum – the HF9 – with new Anti-Twist technology to stop hairs tangling around the brush.
