THE ERT INTERVIEW ASWO
Spares and repairs: A new opportunity for electrical retailers
14
In order to further support the electrical retail industry, ASWO has introduced a brand new service to give repairers and retailers access to spare parts sales revenue and new customer introductions. “It’s all about keeping independent repairers alive, which is one of ASWO’s key fundamentals,” says Head of Operations, Richard Williams. He chats to Jack Cheeseman.
S
upporting professional technicians to repair products and help extend the life of electrical goods is the aim of spare parts logistics provider, ASWO. Originally a small company in Germany, the business
has expanded rapidly since the 1960’s and it is now one of the largest distributors of spare parts in Europe, supplying 36 countries from its warehouses in Germany and France. The company operates in two forms, one as a parts
supplier, and the other is a subscription platform called EURAS, used by both brown and white goods repairers where they can find a lot of technical information and fault information for products. Richard Williams is Head of Operations at ASWO UK; he has been with the business since 2019, but he’s been in the spare parts industry for
30 years. His most recent experience was managing similar online B2C services. Since moving to ASWO Mr Williams has been responsible for overseeing the launch of a new online service – called Repair Parts Team (www.
repairpartsteam.co.uk) – that offers new business opportunities to ASWO’s network of both independent retailers and repair tradespeople. It is designed to attract consumers that are looking for spare parts or for help to repair a faulty appliance. “ASWO’s goal is to prolong the life of an appliance in order to benefit the environment and reduce waste and the resources needed to make new products,” explains Mr Williams. Talking exclusively to ERT, he adds: “We do this by supporting the repair industry and helping to stop electrical goods ending up in landfill.” Markus Pastor, Managing Director of ASWO
UK, comments: “Innovation and supporting our B2B customers are deeply rooted in the core of ASWO. The launch of the Repair Parts Team platform is a unique offer to repairers and retailers, giving them access to spare parts sales revenue and new end consumer introductions. “We are delighted to be launching in the UK
market and welcome ERT’s community to sign up as program partners.”
